That's a pretty cool behind the scenes look at the Fargo Dome. I wonder how long it takes them to covert from Hockey to FB.

do they have to change it all over to fighting hawks now?

Last I heard they don't have to take out the Sioux heads in the concourse floors and the leather seating stays until it wears out because it also has the Sioux.

I think everything else changes.

The story was Ralph Englestad built the arena with his own money and donated it to the university. The original cost was going to be $50m. He was going to donate another $50m to the foundation for scholarships at the same time. When he got word the university was considering changing the mascot he took the other $50m and added all the Fighting Sioux stuff in marble floors and leather and mahogany chairs to make it very hard to remove the Sioux from the arena. Talks quieted about a badge change too.

Not a lot of people know that it was supposed to be only $50m. The only other time I've heard this referenced was when my law professor mentioned the other $50m would have gone to academics, but scholarships makes sense too.

I wonder how good of a basketball team we could have if we used these facilities for that.

WOW!! What a facility. One would think, that rivals any NHL facility? There should be no excuse for not getting the best recruits, and winning the natty every year?

It does....they do...and they are in the frozen 4 nearly every year. So pretty much yes to everything you said. If you think the arena is impressive, find the video online of the behind the scenes stuff like the locker rooms and player lounges....those are freaking miraculous!

Nevermind I see that someone already posted that video.....It is truly one of the best facilities in all of college sports. If you haven't watched a game at the Ralph..it is a must for collegiate sports fans.

I would say it rivals the Ducks' football facilities in its opulence. I believe I once saw a video of Alabama's football facilities and they are pro quality as well. UND Hockey is in some big time company.

Really dont know why you keep hating on SUU for them winning the Big Sky last year, they earned it and their competition/schedule was not as "weak" as you claim. Also ND from looking at it does have a pretty easy schedule, however we dont know how things will play out, highly doubt any of us thought PSU and SUU would be the top of the conference last season, should be interesting to see what may develope.
