The same reason he isn't our best runningback, he dances around too much.
Say what you want, he has 8 total TDs through 6 games. I'd sure hate to see where the offense would be without him...

Yup. Plus a lot of the "dancing" he does back there is because there's no damn hole to run through so he's trying to make something happen. Can't really fault him for that. He's also our leading receiver with 28 catches.

Actually, he can be faulted for that...he just needs to point upfield and go like he did vs ND when he scored. On KRs though, he'd have more room to do what he does best.

I'd guess they must have tried Travon at returns in practice.
Perhaps he isn't consistent with the catching end of it?

With our offensive beat up as much as it is, it might be wise to not use him for kickoffs.
I would like to see him return kicks though. It would also help his NFL stock a ton. Right now, he is basically a FCS version of Percy Harvin. Speaking of Harvin, did anyone see ESPN's pregame show? They did a quick breakdown how Seattle gets him the ball on the opposite side of the field than he lines up on, rather it be in crossing, reverses, or using him in motion. They also showed how that helps rest the offense when teams pay too much attention to him. The opposite side of the field creates a lot of space for other skill players to work. I mentioned this a week or 2 ago in another thread how I'd like to see us go to other players opposite of Van. With an inconsistent OL, I really don't know how many play variations we would have time to implement that. For that to work, our QB has to hold on to the ball long enough to let the defense flow to Van. Maybe a simple HB or slot swing pass, or screen pass opposite of Van would work at this stage.

During ESPN's whole segment on Harvin, all I could think of was how Van reminds me of Harvin. It would be great if we can our offense to work together to be able to utilize Van and our other weapons properly.
