Will take DM any day. He is a leader on the field and is a great contributor to the Bozeman community unlike his Griz counterpart spending th last year preparing for a trial and bringing much negative publicity to the school and to Missoula. Good leaders don't get themselves in those situations.

Being the subject of a bogus allegation has nothing to do with leadership.

Not being elected captain says alot about leadership, or the lack thereof.

Wait, how do you know is family isn't of Irish decent? Are you saying without saying because he's black than his family "obviously" isn't of Irish decent? Coicidence?! I think not! This whole this is highly suspect! Highly suspect I say! :thumb:
True dat! Assuming he can't really be Irish because of the color of his skin is INCREDIBLY racist. Do a little searching and you will find quite a bit on the subject.

The reason I say he obviously isn't Irish is because he is a class guy, nothing to do with the color of his skin. Every mick I have ever know isn't worth the spit that was running down his chin.

I'd like to party with you.

In Butte. On St Patrick's Day...

Yeah, I hear there are a lot of bog stompers in that shithole :thumb:

My guess is that JJ got all or virtually all of the captain votes. While a majority of players were not in the court room on any particular day, much of the team in the aggregate came to the trial at times, even some frosh who may not know JJ. On the biggest days, there were close to 20 players in the courtroom, as well as multiple coaches. JJ probably has 100% support from the team, and he also supported his team by staying in town to fight this through to the terrific result he received.

my guess is every single player on the cats voted for DM to be captain but because he said after his sophmore year he no longer wanted to be one they simply disregarded his votes. he has 100% support from our team and i have heard that even some seniors in high school who commited to the team have told the staff they can't wait to support DM come this fall. in fact, while walking past the weight room last week i couldn't help but notice there was at least 50 players in there supporting DM and other players.

My guess is that there are a number of Cat players who don't view DM as captain material or don't like him, and thus didn't vote for him the past two years. The explanations that were offered above make little or no sense. This thread seemed to hit a sensitive spot with some Cat fans, and they got very defensive over even asking the question.

Your guesses, including one about the innocence of Beau Donaldson, have proven to be inaccurate. I'll take the weather channel's 10 day forecast for an April in Montana before I'd take your "guess." Unless you talked to teammates directly or can document that as the case, your opinions are about as valuable as any other on this board.

JJ put himself in a position to be falsely accused. Not good leadership. And, you don't get votes for being captain when you state clearly you do not want to be, which DM did. He is well liked by his teammates and to state otherwise is garbage from Griz fans on here that wish for that in their vacant minds.

Yes, you guys do post some really dumb stuff. I guess you like making fools of yourself. Speaking of leadership, you are the leaders in posting inane observations. But, if it makes you feel good so be it.You guys don't have much positive to talk about these days.

Nope, has nothing to do with leadership. JJ dated a woman and went to her house. Virtually every college kid in America does the same thing. Where's your evidence that DM clearly stated he did not want to be captain?

I was at a forum with coach Ash and DM was there and he specifically said he was not a candidate for Captain. He said he has a routine before games and he says it helps him prepare. Coach Ash then said that DM doesn't need the official title. He is a team leader on and off the field.

99.9% of college kids do not get accused of rape on a date!

This thread is really stupid!

Wow, this thread started stupid and has somehow managed to get worse.

My only thought is that I remember from the mid nineties reading that Tommie Frazier wasn't very well liked by his Husker teammates and was never voted to be a team captain. But he still unquestionably led his team to two (and damn near three) national titles.

But carry on. I'm interested to see if there is an actual rock-bottom to this mess.

JJ did not "date" the woman. They had a one night stand. He clearly did put himself in that situation. Clearly the jury made the right decision but again he did put himself in that position. Quit trying to blow over the facts.

Most African Americans have some European genetics within. So, maybe DM actually has some Irish or Scottish blood. Who gives a schit. The current thinking within anthropological genetics research is that Europeans also have some Neanderthal in their genes. So ... most of us are also cave men ... which is probably a good thing for football players.

Wow-now this inane thread is getting into deep anthropology! My boots are not high enough to handle all this bull sh-t! Only on E-Griz!

And how exactly do you suppose that European DNA got in to the African American population, I will give you a hint, it wasn't by choice, and was considered a right of ownership. So for PR to make jokes about it is completely sick.
