Why isn't the Scottish lad a Bobcat captain?

All this thread is missing is gun control squabbling and we'd pretty much touch all subjects.
Are you kidding? No one has even mentioned moving up or player transfers, hallmarks of epic thread-ness.

I think we'd also need a feats of strength challenge or two.

You sound like PlayerRep rationalizing away.

"Your unintentional play on words that I have to reach to explain how it's racist is WAY more racist than me being a fan of "lynchings" which is far less of a stretch to get to the racism conclusion which I rationalize by saying that I meant they're white, because it doesn't matter what you meant by 'Irish Lad', it's still racist, even though it does mean what I meant, which makes mine not racist."

I love eGriz.
So explain to me what the racial component is to the hangings of the Vigilance Committee between 1863 and 1865 around Bannack and Virginia City.

And BTW you are the one that brought the term "Lynching", I personally prefer the term "Hanging"
Nothing.

Just like how they're using the term "Irish Lad" to refer to a young boy with an Irish name.

Seeing as how McGhee is, what? 22? and has a traditionally Irish name, it seems to fit.

You're the only one bringing up his race.

Racist. :coffee:

(See, it's fun rationalizing! It's never what you say or do, it's what you mean. :thumb:  )

Answer this then, How did his family get that Irish name? when they obviously are not of Irish decent. And why (being that he is obviously not Irish) would you and other douchebags persist in calling him Irish.

BTW the family name McGhee is more commonly Scottish rather than Irish.

Jesus. You really are the know-it-all Bobcat PlayerRep.

Here's an article on the new Bobcat captains. Just curious as to why McGhee isn't a captain. Isn't he a good leader? Do the players like him?

I'd be curious to know the vote tally for Jordan Johnson. Surely not the entire team voted for him.

During the trial, it was well publicized that several players were in the courtroom to show their support for JJ. The majority weren't. Did the majority not believe him and stand behind him? Do they not like him?

My guess is that JJ got all or virtually all of the captain votes. While a majority of players were not in the court room on any particular day, much of the team in the aggregate came to the trial at times, even some frosh who may not know JJ. On the biggest days, there were close to 20 players in the courtroom, as well as multiple coaches. JJ probably has 100% support from the team, and he also supported his team by staying in town to fight this through to the terrific result he received.

Yes, because surely if the entire 73-man roster doesn't show up in the courtroom at the highly publicized and divisive trial with limited seating, they obviously don't support him.

They could've stood outside, in the hallways, on the front lawn. They didn't. Clearly they don't like him. :coffee:

Lighten up Francis.... it was merely an attempt to rebut PR's logic.

Right there is your problem. Assuming PR is using logic.

Wait, how do you know is family isn't of Irish decent? Are you saying without saying because he's black than his family "obviously" isn't of Irish decent? Coicidence?! I think not! This whole this is highly suspect! Highly suspect I say! :thumb:

DM is kind of overrated, seriously, hes a good QB for the cats but what have they had since Lulay....and before that it was Bradley.

He doesnt win big games, in fact an argument could be made very easily that he is the reason they DONT win big games.

He folds like a $3 chinese lawn chair from WalMart when you need it the most.

So what if the Irish lad puts up the numbers he does every year in a weak conference when the end is always the same? I would take a guy that can win a big game over the numbers any day of the week.

Luckily we have JJ and we get both...........its good to be a Griz

Cat/griz isn't a big game? Stony Brook isn't a big game? His record is not sterling in big games, no, but he has shown promise. It might help if his O-line wasn't so young.

Griz/cat is a big game......for you guys.

Stoney Brook was a playoff win I will give you that...but I was talking about beating teams like NDSU, SHSU etc. Those are the big games I was talking about and McGhee usually goes down harder than a Kardashian in the inner city.

I am not knocking the Scottish lads talent he is the best QB you guys have ever had but there is no way in hell I would take him over JJ.

True dat! Assuming he can't really be Irish because of the color of his skin is INCREDIBLY racist. Do a little searching and you will find quite a bit on the subject.

But aren't you afraid that JJ is too frail and is gonna get crushed out there? (In case anyone think's I'm serious... I'm merely mocking some of you tards that were telling everyone DM was too frail and took too many hits to last a season without getting injured. Yawn... here we are heading into his Senior year and I'll be damned if he's still not walking upright.)   :thumb:

The reason I say he obviously isn't Irish is because he is a class guy, nothing to do with the color of his skin. Every mick I have ever know isn't worth the spit that was running down his chin.

my guess is every single player on the cats voted for DM to be captain but because he said after his sophmore year he no longer wanted to be one they simply disregarded his votes. he has 100% support from our team and i have heard that even some seniors in high school who commited to the team have told the staff they can't wait to support DM come this fall. in fact, while walking past the weight room last week i couldn't help but notice there was at least 50 players in there supporting DM and other players.

Will take DM any day. He is a leader on the field and is a great contributor to the Bozeman community unlike his Griz counterpart spending th last year preparing for a trial and bringing much negative publicity to the school and to Missoula. Good leaders don't get themselves in those situations.

My guess is that there are a number of Cat players who don't view DM as captain material or don't like him, and thus didn't vote for him the past two years. The explanations that were offered above make little or no sense. This thread seemed to hit a sensitive spot with some Cat fans, and they got very defensive over even asking the question.
