Seriously you guys ?? The guy that takes time after beating his biggest rival on their turf and
poses for a picture with a young Griz fan and you gotta run him down? Maybe Cat fans should
come up with some nick names for JJ like Pump & dump or some stupid sh!t like that. Then
what????? Does that make me cool? NO!!! I respect the athlete JJ and what he's been through
and hope he's successful for his own good because they're all the same kids, Irish, Black, Asian,
Native, Samoan, Texan, Montanan. Grow the f_ck up!

Not sure who that's directed to, catdaddy7. I'm just trying to get people to be honest about the fact that the "Irish lad" joke, while maybe not intended a "slur," is absolutely based on ethnicity.

It is absolutely not an ethnic slur. It is mild humor. I defy anyone to explain how it could possibly be a slur.

Calling a Native American "chief" is an ethnic slur. Where's the outrage about a Cat fan doing that in this thread?

Given all the racist, sexist and homophobic comments on this board, including from some in this thread, the comments on ethnic slur in this thread are truly laughable.

If I remember correctly, Jesus of Nazareth washed his disciples' feet. Perhaps DM thought that would be a little extreme or too time consuming as a pre-game ritual.

However, I do thing that LBJ's O Line protects him better than Jesus's disciples did.

Calling a black man with the last name McGhee "the Irish lad" is absolutely a racial slur, especially given that his family probably received the name not by their own choice but it was forced upon one of his ancestors by a white owner. The fact that you see it as nothing more than mild humor shows how truly racist you are. Maybe a tepee creeper like yourself should think before using that type of "humor"

...says the guy who was a "fan of lynchings" & had a picture of a couple individuals hung from a tree as your avatar. You're such a hypocrit.

Nothing racial about that, they were white guys lynching other white guys. You evidently haven't read much Montana History,

You sound like PlayerRep rationalizing away.

"Your unintentional play on words that I have to reach to explain how it's racist is WAY more racist than me being a fan of "lynchings" which is far less of a stretch to get to the racism conclusion which I rationalize by saying that I meant they're white, because it doesn't matter what you meant by 'Irish Lad', it's still racist, even though it does mean what I meant, which makes mine not racist."

I love eGriz.

that...Was...AWESOME!

and i love egriz too. always something interesting/ridiculous going on. :o

It isn't racist to call him the Irish Lad. Who cares? DeNarius has achieved more collegiate athletic success than almost anyone on this board can claim.

Do Griz fans honestly dispute that DeNarius is a good QB? Do they dispute that he is a class act? Do they dispute that he is a winner?

Griz fans have a hard time showing respect for anyone that doesn't wear the maroon and silver (or, black and orange). As a Cat fan, I can show maturity and respect by stating that Jordy Johnson is one of the best quarterbacks in college football at this division. I think it is safe to say that if he were a few inches taller he'd be playing in the Pac 12. He's a leader, a competitor, and an excellent athlete that dominated the Cats in the one game he's played against them so far. If he's the difference between the past two Cat Griz games in Missoula and the one in Bozeman, then that will bear out in November again.

It is ok if you respect DeNarius, Griz fans. You don't have to cheer for him but respecting him doesn't make you any less of a Griz fan. It's ok. You can come out now.

No, but I'm sure you're going to rant like they are.

You sure haven't been able to show lot of "maturity" and "respect" by letting it go.

You aren't going to convince everyone of this, because, like you said, there are just some Griz fans that are never going to give him any props simply because he goes to MSU, just like there are just as many MSU fans who do the same thing about Griz players. It's a rivalry. A bitter rivalry. It's to be expected.

But by all means go ahead and keep ranting on your rival's message board.

Here's an article on the new Bobcat captains. Just curious as to why McGhee isn't a captain. Isn't he a good leader? Do the players like him?

I'd be curious to know the vote tally for Jordan Johnson. Surely not the entire team voted for him.

During the trial, it was well publicized that several players were in the courtroom to show their support for JJ. The majority weren't. Did the majority not believe him and stand behind him? Do they not like him?

Just for the record, I have not said "Irish lad" is "racist," nor have I said it's a "slur."

Now, let's have some more Jesus jokes. That's pure comedy gold, if you ask me.

Yes, because surely if the entire 73-man roster doesn't show up in the courtroom at the highly publicized and divisive trial with limited seating, they obviously don't support him.

So explain to me what the racial component is to the hangings of the Vigilance Committee between 1863 and 1865 around Bannack and Virginia City.

And BTW you are the one that brought the term "Lynching", I personally prefer the term "Hanging"

Nothing.

Just like how they're using the term "Irish Lad" to refer to a young boy with an Irish name.

Seeing as how McGhee is, what? 22? and has a traditionally Irish name, it seems to fit.

You're the only one bringing up his race.

Racist. :coffee:

(See, it's fun rationalizing! It's never what you say or do, it's what you mean. :thumb:  )

Answer this then, How did his family get that Irish name? when they obviously are not of Irish decent. And why (being that he is obviously not Irish) would you and other douchebags persist in calling him Irish.

BTW the family name McGhee is more commonly Scottish rather than Irish.

They could've stood outside, in the hallways, on the front lawn. They didn't. Clearly they don't like him. :coffee:

Lighten up Francis.... it was merely an attempt to rebut PR's logic.

Right there is your problem. Assuming PR is using logic.
