Why Isn't Pease Being Given More Attention Again?

I'd be extremely happy with either Stitt or Pease.

If these are our two finalists, we have a lot to be excited about.

My gut tells me it's between Hauck and Pease. I just have a feeling Stitt is going elsewhere.

Tend to agree, especially as each day goes by with other teams presumably courting Stitt.

325M is a lot of money, but look at what he was making at Florida before being hired at UW...

OC Brent Pease among Gator coaches getting raises

Posted by John Taylor on May 8, 2013, 10:33 PM EST

AP
After one year on the job in which his unit struggled mightily, Brent Pease is getting a bump in pay to go along with some additional “job security” — and some public confidence displayed by his boss to boot.

Florida announced Wednesday that the offensive coordinator’s contract has been extended by one year, through the 2015 season. Pease’s annual salary was also raised from $490,000 to $590,000.

If Pease, who came to Gainesville from Boise State following the 2011 season, remains with the Gators through the remainder of the new deal, he will receive a $100,000 longevity bonus.

The guy has the opportunity to be a Head Coach at his Alma Mater. It looks like he is doing alright financially! Leave the wide recievers coaching behind at UW, and get your ass to Missoula!

Some are remembering Brent as cocky and arrogant (his mother said he was simply self assured) from twenty years ago. He has matured. His resume is fantastic. He has seen every offense and defense at the highest level. His contacts for assistants and recruits would be huge. He obviously feels family and being head coach here is worth the cut in pay. The fact that Peterson (who I think is pretty knowledgeable about football and coaches) made room on his staff and hired him back IMO is a very high recommendation. I don't have a dog in the fight and will be happy with any selection but this tread prompted me to question those who haven't had any contact with him in two decades. (And maybe Marty's kid who Brent recruited as QB to Florida would want to join his sister here for his last two years)

Does anybody know where Billy Cockhill is, or if he is still coaching?

edit: whoops! I knew him a long time ago, not sure if Billy is a fan of bratwurst or if he's German, but that was the wrong link before.

Pony, do you know when he is rescheduled to meet with Haslam?

And also, why did he leave the UM OC position to go to NAU?

i was all for pease until i read he's from mountain home, id?

oh dear god.

not that.

I was stationed there in the late 80's/early 90's. Not the most exciting place on earth, but plenty of good people, and right near Boise.

Don't know exactly on either question.

The advantage he has over Stitt is competitive recruiting at the D1 level. I like Stitt a lot and think he would be a great hire, but I have reservations on whether he could go out and recruit the talent. Pease is a good recruiter and is a very good offensive coordinator. I think we would be very lucky to have him.

I like Stitt or Pease, both have produced great offensive teams.

I am excited about both candidates. And believe both are fantastic choices.

In the end, I just don't want a d :!: ck stick as a head coach. It is hard to be a fan of a d :!: ck stick! So either Pease (from previous statements made about him) has matured, or I don't want squat to do with him. If he is now a likeable guy, I'm all on board.

Stitt is already a very likeable guy.
Fortunately it's not a popularity contest. Nice guys can finish last...

Pease is interviewing this weekend as previously reported. I would bet on an announcement next week. Pease is the guy I have wanted all along.

That is not correct. Mick Dennehy was the OC in 1995. Pease became the OC in 1996 after Read resigned and Dennehy was selected as head coach. Pease was QB coach in 1995.

Ask anyone that played on the 95 team about who was the real OC. Especially in the playoffs.
