Why is it surprising?

How many teams are on their 3rd string QB? How many of those teams are going to be in the playoffs?

JMU is 0-2 since their starter went down. Villanova is 2-3. It's usually the way this game works...

Ohio State, third strings first start - big ten championship. Adjusting isn't impossible, I'm worried Stitt is so in love with his system he won't.

Feel free to explain your statement that OS starts its 3d team qb. Also, give us your time line showing that the OS situation is similar to UM's, in that the 1st team qb was hurt in 3d game and 2d team qb was hurt in about 5th game. Note that getting beat out means the qb isn't a first teamer any longer.
Mousegriz and Inland just lit you up! Take your medicine like a man. No...you go off on some meaningless, confusing tactic. Oh... I think I'll demand an answer to an irrelevant comment (that will fool them into thinking I'm smarter than them)  ...Adapt in your Geritol stage of life and quit being a Douchebag... :egriz:

There are about 15 posters on the board that I don't respect, plus the various Cat or other trolls. Yes, lots of people respect me. I know lots of the posters, hang out with a few, get lots of emails, calls and PM's from posters, and see run into a number of posters at tailgates and around town.
It's mostly because of your humility.

No, they didn't. Ohio St doesn't start their 3d team qb, to my knowledge.

Below are the qb's on the Ohio State football website. Please name the 1st team, 2d team and 3d team qb's. Note that Braxton switched positions this summer.

16 Barrett, J.T. QB 6-2 225 SO Wichita Falls, Texas (Rider)
10 Burrow, Joe QB 6-3 208 FR The Plains, Ohio (Athens)
13 Collier, Stephen QB 6-4 225 FR Leesburg, Ga. (Lee County)
11 Cook, Justin QB 6-3 225 SO Philadelphia, Pa. (Western Reserve Academy)
12 Jones, Cardale QB 6-5 250 JR Cleveland, Ohio (Glenville)
1 Miller, Braxton QB/HB 6-2 215 SR Huber Heights, Ohio (Wayne)
6 Gibson, Torrance QB/WR 6-4 205 FR Plantation, Fla. (American Heritage)

No, they didn't. Ohio St doesn't start their 3d team qb, to my knowledge.

I think last year Miller was #1, Barrett was #2 and Jones #3.......Miller and Barrett went down so they went to #3 Jones and his first start they won the Big 10 championship, then they won the semifinal playoff game, then they won the national championship.

So as stated....Ohio State 3rd string's, first start (last year) they won the Big 10 championship. I just read the statement and it made sense....didn't have to go to this year's roster and list out 7 guys their height, weight, class and hometown. Also, to my knowledge Ohio State hasn't won the Big 10 championship this year yet anyway....so there's Inland's explanation. Got it?

Are all 3rd string QB's created equal?

Also, when your original #1 is really a borderline #2, I am not sure that says much about your #3...

I agree....none of these recent posts pertain to PR's original post to which I agreed. But then I start seeing references to this year's 7 OSU QB's and old "liked and respected PR" going off on a guy who made a pretty simple reference to OSU last year...and had to go off!

I'm sure Inland and I will hear all about the Big Green 1972 QB's pretty soon!!

Coach also said after the game that they had many missed reads. aka, missed crossing patterns.

Way to throw your QB under the bus, coach. :o

He said "we." Not like Ash, who actively blames kids for his shortcomings every week. He's a pathetic excuse for a DI coach.

So Stitt was the one making the reads during passing plays?

Interesting. I didn't think coaches were allowed to play in the games. Or maybe Simis had a mouse in his pocket helping him make reads on pass plays?

 @ anyone suggesting the situation at Montana this year is even remotely close to the situation at Ohio State last year.

As a Cat fan, it's not surprising that you are too dense to understand the team concept, or much anything else. Lord knows Ron Ash has never understood it, either. That dude is a fucking joke, haha!

Not surprising, but still very hard to swallow considering how terrible the Griz looked in many facets of the game yesterday. I agree that PSU is obviously a very good team this year, however, this loss would be easier to take if it weren't for the three already in the "L" column. Since ISU has fallen apart, MSU is looking like its usual self, and even EWU looks beatable, I am liking our chances for the remaining games, and am hopeful for a 7-4 finish. But I would not put money on it.

In truth, the mouse only helps with cooking. Makes a mean bowl of red.

PR thinks he knows everything... You're right about Cardale Jones, He was there 3rd string QB last year.

The team concept where someone other than the QB is making reads on passing plays after the ball is snapped? Stiff doesn't have his WRs running option routes, so who missed the coverage reads? Simis and ...?

PR thinks he knows everything... You're right about Cardale Jones, He was there 3rd string QB last year.

I actually do know a bit about the Ohio St QB situation last year, as my nephew was an resident in orthopedic surgery there last year and followed the team fairly closely (as he was a college football player and there is orthopedic coverage of athletics and football, obviously).

While there are some vague similarities to UM's situation, the situations are also very different. Only 2 QB's threw more than a couple passes. Miller, the starter in prior years and who switched positions and isn't even playing QB this year, was hurt the entire year. He had had surgery and missed spring ball and much of fall ball. Then, after declaring himself healthy, got hurt almost immediately. I wonder if he would have been the starter anyway. He sure wasn't this year.

The QB who started every game except the last 3 and the guy who started the last 3 got all of the reps in fall ball and spring ball (or at least Miller didn't take any from them). UM's 3d team QB now wasn't getting many reps in pre-season, and not many at all until Gus got hurt.

Ohio St had a terrific QB except for the last 3 games. UM's QB situation isn't like that. The 3d teamer played very well.

Ohio St was fortunate to have 3 very good QB's. UM has nice talent too, but nothing like what Ohio St had.

Given that Miller isn't even playing QB this year, and didn't play at all last, I don't really consider him as Ohio St's no. 1 QB last year. I know others do.

We'll see how UM's QB situation goes from here.
