Why I no longer live in Montana.

As long as we are name dropping. Here's my two best encounters.

I sat across the isle from OJ Simson and Al Cowlings on a flight from LA to SF in 1968 right after they graduated from USC. We talked football the whole flight, I was a big USC fan and still am. I'm not an OJ fan any more.

My second was a chance meeting with Gilligan (Bob Denver) and the Skipper (Alan Hale Jr.) in 1985. I was sitting at a Holiday Inn bar in downtown Duluth, Mn. when I saw them sitting at a table. I had the waitress take them drinks. When they received them, they waved me over and I spend 4 hours drinking and partying with them. It was very fun.

My intentention wasn't to start a battle with you guys. Having not lived in Mt. for 16 years, I rely on this site to get info and the inside scoop on my beloved Griz. I guess it's now officially the "off season" unless your a fan of track...

**Now I understand it's been a long cold winter out there, but don't tell me you'll pull your eyes from the ladies on the beach!

Beach? Good grief it is still Ski season and snow bunny time. I don't know how people live without snow skiing and mountains. totally baffles me.

Fall and winter, without a doubt, my favorite seasons. Oh, the others aren't bad either!

I guess it is Spring Break... and that lasts for about a week. A week full of eye candy before the retired geriatrics come back out in full force.

I think Jim Morrison said it best: "I used to live in Florida and go to FSU, but then I got smart and moved out west."

This is pretty funny. I think you all missed my point. I'm not an important person, in fact I don't even have a job. Everything that I stated is open to the public for free or little cost. I understand that this is a Grizzly athletics site, but some of you just care too much about what a bunch of college kids are doing. Your frame of reference seems really small. Go live a little and not through an 18 year old.

I actually thought you did have a job - as a valet at some restaurant. Now you have broken my dreams of doing the same in some warm climate where the average "babe" on the beach is about 75 years old (at least the last time I was down there 2 years ago).

There's no good surf in FL, unless perhaps it's hurricane season. The East coast is the least coast. The West coast is the best coast.

Bummer that the season's over, but I'm looking forward. Spring and summer in MT can't be beat. I'd rather be floating down the river on an innertube, beer in hand, in 85 degree weather, than sitting in my living room watching basketball with overcast skies and snow ANY DAY of the week. Ski season and college B-ball season are the only things that get me through winter. Especially the dreadful JAN-MARCH stretch.

I don't think that the guy who started this thread means to put down MT or the proud posters of this site, but just put in perspective that there are more things to look forward to than the start of next B-ball season. That's what I got from it anyway.

I don't really get the meaning of these posts, or I guess agree with them. I was born and raised in MT, have fairly recently moved to Vegas...have met many "important people" and done a lot of fun things, and am here to make a small fortune in real estate...but am counting the days until I move back to MT (Missoula)! Miss it a lot. There is no better place than MT. :twocents:

That's why I'm in Seattle. Bill can kiss my......

FootballGuru, I don't want to knock you, but honest to God I was being EXTREMELY sarcastic towards the origional post. I love Montana and would LOVE to move back, but I enjoy Washington right now and it has far more going on economically than Montana.

Honestly, if you believed any of the other posters since and didn't realize they were kidding around and knocking the origional poster... then let me tell you Mr Real Estate, I've got some ocean front property in Nevada I'd like to sell you as well.

Having said the above, you are in a good area for the real estate business right now. Boom town is what they should call the housing market in Vegas. :thumb:

Shakermaker, what? lol

I know Las Vegas is booming, that is why I moved here. In fact, Nevada has been one the fastest growing states in the nation the past 20 years. Las Vegas, Henderson, Reno and North Las Vegas are the major growth areas. The state demographer predicts Nevada will have to double its infrastructure in the next 20 years! That is huge growth. 1-15 thru Vegas is currently 69% over capacity, and in three years they predict it will be 131% over capacitated. They are beginning to add lanes, but it will take 10 years they said to comlete!

But I am here not only for the Nevada market, but am looking to Arizona as well (short, cheap flight). Mainly the Phoenix area, with median home price of $243,400. Last year it had a nations best 1-year property appreciation at 47%. 5-year appreciation was 81.1% in the Pheonix metro area. (Wash DC metro area 5-year appreciation was a staggering 136.3%)

Compare that to Seattle, which was "good"...median home price $310,000, 1-year appreciation 19.9%, 5-year appreciation 53.1%.

And I would do a thorough SPOT SURVEY of any land I was looking to purchase from you...I wouldn't be buying any useless title or deed from you. :thumb: I might buy a Washington red apple though, those are pretty tasty.

I now live and have lived in Missoula my entire life. My list of celebrity contacts is quite impressive as I am sure you will agree.

I met Ron Jeremy at the Top Hat

What? When? Damn!

Well you're in luck then. I have a few Wa Red Apple trees on the ocean front property I was talking about down in Nevada. :thumb: Okay, I can't back that up.

I was born, raised and educated in Montana. I've lived in Washington, New Mexico and South America, and come 'back home' every time I left. I guess money is of less importance to me than it is to some of you, as $$ would NEVER determine where I live -- and I choose western Montana, now and always

I guess providing for your family and community are not of as much importance to you as they are to me. I seek financial independence not out of personal greed, but for the benefit of others.

My family and I live quite well, thank you very much -- 'things' simply aren't anywhere near as important to us as are relationships and the people in our lives. We recognized years ago that we could make lots more money somewhere else, but never once considered leaving Montana. For us, it's worked out fine -- we live in a comfortable house in a nice neighborhood, do some traveling, sent our daughter to a private school, and owe virtually nothing to anyone. I realize that that's not enough for some people, who think a new car, a fancy house and name brand clothing are vital to their lives --they just aren't to mine.
As for contributing to my community, I can assure you that I give as much or more time and money than a lot of people who could afford a good deal more. I recall the year when Reagan was president and his taxes were made public -- we had more charitable contributions than he did!! I was astounded.

What part of the I seek financial independence for the benefit of others did you not understand?

I didn't think I needed to go into more depth, but will expand a little so I don't get accused of wanting to "keep up with the Jones'" with materialsim. I am talking about donating large amounts of money and time (that can't be done by having any type of job..you have to be an entrepreneuer) to organizations and people in Montana that need it. So shame on me for living outside of Montana for a little while (for the first time ever) to make this happen. Yes, I am letting money dictate where I live currently, but it's a tradeoff I accept.

You are older and have lived a comfortable life for you, good for you. You have accomplished success as how it pertains to you.

Seriously now... let's end this topic. It's become as retarded as Lulay and Kramer's extra chromosome carrying child.

I don't want to hear about how free spirited some of you BELIEVE you are. How "rich" some of you are(n't)... or how much "tang" the remainder of you, FLORIDA guy, stare at while wearing your trench coat waiting for the school bell to ring.
