Why bobkittens over the Griz?

All this excitement to maybe squeak into the playoffs, get a home game against someone like San Diego in the hopes to advance and head to either Fargo or Cheney to get shit canned.

I'll take it!

It would be great to get this young team a taste of playoff football.

Yes it would. We would love the chance to play San Diego at home and get a win if we play well. Love to go to NDSU or EWU and show all the freshman and sophomores that those teams are the ones that we need to be...that's the intensity we need to bring. We need every single game we can get for they young guys! if that means 1-2 extra games....we will take it! It's just like the NCAA basketball tourney. you wont find a coach that doesn't want young players to go get that experience...because it builds success it builds want and desire to be better. you don't get better by saying...we sucked this year so we don't even deserve it.

Hold up. I thought if we have to play against EWU or UNDSU in the second round, we shouldn't even be excited to make the playoffs.

We lost to psu. At home. On Homecoming.

We got absolutely embarrassed by davis.

nodak throttled us from the opening minute.

We don't deserve a playoff spot, people. We may end up getting one, but we don't deserve one.

I think if we get a playoff spot then we deserve it. I dont think they will just give us one despite our past success. The committee will evaluate everyone and choose deserving teams. Do we have a right to expect one? Heck no. Have we achieved the wins and status that past Griz playoff teams did? No, probably would be one of the lowest ranked playoff teams we have had should they get in but no need to diminish the things this team will have accomplished if they get a playoff spot. They will deserve it and have certainly shown they can play with any of the teams they played just werent consistent enough to do it for 4 quarters. If they dont beat the cats then I agree they dont deserve a playoff spot.

I think maybe look at last years bracket when there were more 8-3 teams available. That pushes a 7-4 team out. So with so many 7-4 teams, there's a chance. I would say the same for the Cats. A 12-10 game either way is probably not playoff bound, but a 31-14 game either way probably is. Either way, I'll be sitting in my comfy theater chair watching on my projector TV wearing my gear!

Note that some teams had their 11th games cancelled early in the season due to hurricane. Don't know if any teams in the playoff mix are in that boat.

The MV really beat each other up, except NDSU. The Big Sky had some beating up too. Not so much in the CAA. The MV had a very strong SOS. The Big Sky seems to be next. The CAA, not so much.

It would be very unfair for the CAA to get a bunch of teams in like 6 or 5, at the expense of the MV and BS.

Kennesaw is a good team, but the Griz and Cats would be in the playoffs easily with Kennesaw's schedule.

Will Kent Haslam recuse?

I remember when O’Day was on the selection committee he had to leave the discussion if the Griz were being discussed.

So conceivably there will not be a BSC voice if the Griz come up for consideration.

IMO, neither the Griz nor the Cats are playoff-worthy teams.

How do you know that? Did you compare than to the other top 35 teams, and determine that Cats/Griz are not in the top 24 (excluding the Ivies and others who don't participate)?

Seems to me that a comparison needs to be made. The top 24 get selected.

Absolutely none of this matters...

At 4:00 on Saturday

one team will be 7-4 with a chance at the playoffs
and
one team will be at home licking their wounds...

Not Really. Duquesne will probably be in the playoffs. But I know what you are saying.

Kent will be there if the Cats are up for discussion. That being said, does anyone really think Kent Haslam is a positive influence for MSU to get into the playoffs? I hope Kent remembers what Mark Emmert did to the University of Montana a few years back. A year long investigation that turned up free hot dogs at tail gates and free legal advice from a grandma. If MSU wins I wouldn't bet on them making the playoffs.

If the cats win they are in. And Kent will most definitely be pulling for ANY big sky team to get in as that’s part of his job.

This shouldn't be very hard to understand, they beat two teams that we lost to. Got it kids?

Seems you are blinded by common sense. Don't let that confuse the others on this website. :ugeek:

That is a pretty fair assessment. A convincing win may put the winner into the playoffs, a squeaker not so much.

Yet I won't be shocked if the winner is still sitting at home even with a 'big' win.

Yea right... common sense wins and losses don't matter to some. Dig up some meaningless stats, that will make us feel better.

But if you beat the team that beat teams that beat you...

If both UM and MSU could finish 7-4, and they didn't play each other, then clearly MSU would have the stronger argument. IMO, the ONE that finishes 7-4 has an equal chance of making the playoffs, although a case can be made that neither has any room to complain if they win Saturday and still don't make it. But making the playoffs and getting blown out is WAY better than sitting at home.
