Whose quarterbacking next year?

i hope jj. simply so i can watch him not go undefeated and not win a national championship...

i'm not one to talk trash but saying if you had jj this year you'd be in the chipper is just ridiculous. especially seeing as the griz offense is not that bad....

and yes...i did read these predictions on this board. just silly. i will concede that if you had jj you'd be a better football team. but unless he has crazy secondary skills none of us are aware of then he'd only get ya another win or two.

Which would have had us in the playoffs and had more than a few people back away from the ledge they're currently standing on.

it would have been close but i agree. with jj you're probably a playoff team. just think it's funny when people are saying with him you'd be a lock to play in the national championship. i mean, that secondary is one of the worst i have seen. jj could put up points and he'd HAVE to. just don't think things are as quick of a fix as some want to believe.

Your post is dead on, especially this. While they have played better the last two games, given the opponents I am not ready to give them the :thumb: yet.

with JJ we're a one-loss team this year. maybe undefeated. not a NC-caliber team, mainly due to our horrible secondary. if our offense could've produced a first down late in the game, or maintained even one additional drive during the game, we beat App, EWU, SUU, and UND. a bit more consistency on offense may have even prevented/slowed the shit-show derailment in the second half against NAU.

If he is, and he may be, do you expect the current regime to recognize it?

Not this year, I agree with the guy that said they wont play him because they dont want to look stupid this season for not playing him. I have been saying the same thing to people the last couple weeks.

I believe Jordy reads the field better than AB. Jordy's skills remind me a lot of Dickenson. Nothing flashy, but he will dissect you.
When did this happen?

prove it? sigh.

what i'm trying to say, is that if you look at those losses, literally ONE MORE SUSTAINED DRIVE (wouldn't even have needed to be a scoring drive, just a clock killer) could have easily been the difference in the game. not sure that you watched them, but i did. there is an enormous difference between cody's back-ups, and JJ's back-ups, good sir.

Pretty much from the Weber State game on...

just playing man. i just think it's silly. if jj played we're undefeated. if bobby hauck coached we're in the chipper. if we didn't turn the ball over we win. if only kemp played we're conference champs....

if If IF.....

what if jj threw a pick in one of those games? what if a blocker tripped on his shoelaces allowing an end to go untouched and hammered jj? what if jj stepped on the foot of the center and broke his ankle? what if jj's long sustained drives allowed the defense to rest and they shut down your offense in the 4th quarter?

lotta ifs. all silly. :grenade:

Did I miss the part where someone said we'd be in the chipper with JJ???

I am praying and hoping for JJ to return. He was phenomenal the last 6 games of 2011. If we stick with the spread read option, JJ or AB. If we go to a more conventional style, I would love see Gustafson be the man. I watched him throw in pregame against ISU and UNC. Granted it was not a very good way to judge. His arm is strong, and passes looked really nice. I hear AB has a good arm too.

I really think until we find out what kind of offense we will run next season, it is impossible to predict, or have a frontrunner. In my opinion, the only frontrunner is JJ, if he returns. A friend of mine knows Rosenbach well, and has mentioned to me a few times, Rosenbach is much more comfortable implementing more of pro style offense, more focused on pocket passing.

I have a feeling, by March, we will know all this. I am rather confident JJ's case will not be much of a trial. I hope the information I am hearing, is pretty accurate when all is said and done.

I would like to see Rosenbach run the offense he called at EWU. Considering that none of the coaches UM currently has ever ran the spread option before Pflu hired them, it makes sense to gradually phase it out.
The Griz offense hasn't been terrible, but coaches should coach what they know.

Buuuuuut....all the QB's on the roster played the spread in HS... :? :?

I don't think 3 years of high school should determine what you can play for 4 years of college. Besides, it's not really accurate to say that what S-H played @ Glacier or Gustafson played in at West even remotely resembles what Phlu was doing at UM. There's not even a freaking play clock in MT high school football. Glacier couldn't execute 10 straight plays of hurry up offense to save it's life. So they ran a little zone read. Big deal.

Dude, seriously not trying to start sh1t, but 3 years of football is a better indicator then 3 years of soccer. One of the greatest indicators of how good a football player is, is to watch him, you know, play football. Also, not sure where you get that there is not play clock in Montana High School football but that's not true

Sorry folks but if anyone thinks they will see JJ in a Griz uniform again is sorely mistaken IMO. If JJ is guilty then 100% no way. If found innosect WHY in the world would JJ want to stay in Missoula and play for the Griz. I would think that JJ would feel the University turned there back on him. The one person that stood up for him was fired! If he remains a Griz this will follow him every game and sadly would be talked about more than his play on the field. I for one would not blame the kid one bit if he is found innocent that he tells UM to shove it. If he is innocent we should be happy for the kid and wish him well on his next stop where maybe this crap does not follow him. If he is found guilty then he needs to do the time for the crime!

As for who will be QB for the Griz next season, no idea at this point. Oddly this team has put up some amazing offensive stats this year. Not being able to protect against the pass has killed us. Had our D played just a little better this season we might be in a bit better spot.

I think once this season ends many questions arise with coaching, coordinators, current players, recruits. Let's just hope that any coaching changes happen quickly so quality coaches can be found to replace. I think more than anything that will be important. That and maybe going drop down and JC route for some corners.

You mean he started to complete a pass other than a bubble screen? I checked, he did complete 1-2 more passes a game down the stretch to get him over 60% completions. I was thrilled too (except for the lack of a long ball) in the final few games, he was finally playing like the rest of the Big Sky Conference quarterbacks, who I'd never compare to DD. Just saying.

Did someone really compare Jordan Johnson to Dave Dickenson? Oh these forums! The craziness just keeps piling up.
Johnson is not any better than SSH, AB or possibly the Golden Bear with a FULL season of starts under their belt.
