who wins it now

Little help...hows it shaking out?

Eastern wins it outright with a win on Saturday

Montana takes the 1 seed if northern Colorado and eastern both lose and the Griz win

EWU would win tiebreaker for all other 1 seed scenarios

Shantay has it going well at EWU! I’ll predict he’s at a higher level in the near future.

Unfortunately you are probably right, I think he returns next year because Eastern returns everyone but peatling, but he’s definitely headed to a bigger school in the near future....

Whoever wins three in a row in Boise next week...
THIS is what really matters. Go to Boise and see the Griz play three times next week and watch Travis cut the nets down again. :thumb:

Close finish!

Should make a for an ace tourney.

Only winner of Big Sky Championship goes through to MM?
Yep. Big Sky Conference is a 1 bid league.
The Sky is currently 18th in average conference RPI.

Last year was the first time, going back to 2010, where a team from such a weak conference got an at-large bid. Belmont, in the Ohio Valley, had 25 regular season wins (one against a D-II opponent), went into their conference as the #1 seed, but lost out to the #2 at the end. A lot of people (commentators as well as bubble losers) bitched about that pick, saying that the automatic NIT bid should have been good enough.

In 2017, a total of 27 wins couldn’t get Vermont an at-large bid from the weak America East. The year before that, Monmouth out of the Metro Atlantic had 27 wins and didn’t make it. Back in 2012, Middle Tennessee had 28 wins and couldn’t get an at-large out of the Sun Belt.

Personally, I'd rather see a team with 25-28 wins from a weak conference get in over the number six pick out of any of the power coferences ... but that's just me. ;)

Bigger question, who wins conference player of the year?

I’d have to believe Peatling has a leg up on Pridgette and Radebaugh, But all three our deserving

The GRIZ in me says, Pridgett. The common sense side of me says, Radebaugh. I honestly feel, Radebaugh leading UNC with 3 straight victories over the GRIZ will be bigger than many think. Also, him being among the national leaders in assists and minutes played, is rather impressive. Then again, I love high assist guys who also play defense. Not taking away from Peatling, but 2 losses to the GRIZ, may hurt him.

As for the teams, I don't see any other team than Montana, EWU, or UNC winning the conference tournament. Southern Utah is capable of it, on a neutral court. IF the GRIZ don't get the 1 seed, which is likely, I like being the 2nd or 3rd seed, either way, it keeps the GRIZ on the opposite bracket of the 1 seed.

Putting my GRIZ bias aside, unless there is a major injury, I think UNC has the defense and enough depth to carry them to the conference tournament championship. It is hard for a team with 4 Freshmen in their top 9 rotation to win a conference Championship. The GRIZ can do it, but they will need the Freshmen to play more consistent than they have the last 3 weeks. Also the GRIZ lack of length and getting to the FT line, is very difficult to overcome. EWU's defense will need to finally become consistent to do win the Championship. Can they put together 3 straight games with terrific defense? It will be difficult for them to suddenly become a defensive oriented team. Especially when UNC and Montana are consistently better at Defense, than EWU.

In addition, both PSU and NAU are difficult matchups for an undersized GRIZ team. I really am looking forward to see how this tournament plays out. To me, there is not a clear cut favorite. I would be surprised, if any team out of the top 3 wins the tournament.

Ouch....but true, good summary.
The GRIZ will make some noise... if... their shots fall.

I forgot that EWU swept UNC. That equalizes the MVP race. It's a 3 man race. Earlier, I thought EWU and UNC split. Peatling likely gets an edge, for EWU winning the conference title. I am more impressed by Sayeed leading a very inexperienced team. Radebaugh has a high national ranking in assists and minutes played. I'd go with those 2 slightly ahead of Peatling. I do think, the conference will go with him, for MVP.
