Who Will be the Starting QB Against Portland ?

Ah Yat gives the team the best chance to win. Needs to play more and get into a rhythm.

If AY starts the Griz cat game and plays the entire game we win by 17
You must be watching a very different KAY than me. Fife is playing at least 3X better and is the one who needs more opportunities. KAY holds the ball too long, throws it late, and tends to get his passes knocked down at 10x the clip as fife. He runs better, but that’s it.

I don't know who will start. IMO, Fife has the better statistical advantage over AY. To me, they are both similar in our offense. The offense doesn't change when either are in the game. Both their favorite WR targets are banged up (White and Bergen) for this game. I hope Fife starts the game and AY comes in if needed.

I kind of like the Huot idea for a couple reasons. First of all if 2 is better than 1 why wouldn't 3 be better than 2. Secondly, it would give Bobby even more experiance testing those old feelers out and really get in touch with them because after last week it is clear that he needs work in that department.

Nobody pisses away more QB talent than Coach Hauck. He never develops a QB he just imports from outside and breaks team chemistry every year. Just like he did with the 37 jersey thing, thank god for Pease during that debacle or we wouldn't have been able to field a team.

It's an interesting observation and opinion.

The interesting thing to me is that I think regardless of whether they play Fife solely at QB, Ah Yat solely at QB, or continue to rotate them, the trajectory of the season doesn't change. We're likely going 1-1 to finish the year, winning a home playoff game, then going to NDSU or SDSU in the 2nd round and losing no matter who's playing QB.

Coach said in his press conference this week in response to a quarterback rotation question “the honest answer is I don’t really care one way or the other”.

Luke Flowers, then. Better yet, Gage Sliter. Your reasoning is faultless.

I don't think I understand some changes in egriz where you can't quote another persons post but that is probably on me. So Goat - I am hoping you understood that I was being somewhat sarcastic in referencing Huot starting. However I am not sure what you are saying about Flowers and Sliter. Do I believer that they should be part of the rotation at this point? No. However you bring up an interesting point. Do I believe that they should be somewhat cognizent that under Hauck it is very unlikely they will ever see the field? Absolutley. I find this sad in some ways because young MT men like Sliter and Huot actually felt they had a chance to be QB for the Griz, dreamed of it for many years, and have been mislead. Bobby will surely bring in another transrfer to take the reigns. So maybe they should understand now that a coach who apparenlty determines who will start is base on his "feelings", a toss of pixie dust over his left shoulder, and incantations and witchcraft should determine who starts is bullshit. How about an actual game plan? If you believe we should "develop" them then they should understand the system, if that is what it is, under which they are being "developed". I saw today that Hauck said he really doesn't care who starts. This does not bode well.

My post was entirely sarcastic. Fife should start. Unless Fife is injured, I am not convinced Ah Yat should play at all unless UM builds a significant lead. I don’t think any other QB should play, not Huot or anyone else. But I am not a coach, and I am certain Hauck is doing what he thinks is best for UM to win.

The way I read it. It will be Ah Yat. Going forward I would not be surprised to see very little playing time given to Fife.
Colter said something similar, purely as speculation, but knowing how Hauck likes to run his ship, that the social media post by Fife would lead Ah Yat to play the rest of the way. No idea if that's what's in store. But playing both... Just stop.
