Here is a debate I had with some friends over lunch:

If Robin Selvig was to resign at the end of this year, who do you think should get the WBB coaching job?

I had heard that Annette would probably retire when Robin does, but that is pure heresay at this point.

Geezus, Mslacat, you damn near gave me a heart attack with this title. I thought I missed some breaking (both in terms of time and hearts) news.

like krysko, like dickenson, shannon has star power. when a montana kid commits to us--as shannon did when she could have gone anywhere in the country out of high school--we return the favor. when robin retires--and i hope he's around much longer--i immediatley start a national search before announcing we've found our new head coach. the search lasts ten seconds.

there was a missoulian article on the coaches (assistants that is).

Annette said she has no desire to be a head coach. She interviewed with Portland State, Colorado State, and Gonzaga during her time as Lady Griz assistant coach. Last interview in 1989. She said she would rather retire than work harder (she laughed while saying that). You can pretty much count her out.

Shannon says she would love to be a head coach, but is happy to be here and staying put isn't hard.

Selvig is only 54 or 55 years old so I could see him coaching at least 10 more years. We will see whether Shannon can or will wait that long to be head coach somewhere. Same with Duce.

I figure UM will be doing a national search around 10 or so years from now, unless Cate or Duce are still here.

This should be a no brainer, even for a bobcat fan like Mslacat. Shannon is a natural choice. She can recruit, knows the league, knows the system, and coul dcontinue what Selvig has built. :twocents:

He's only 55. He has many years left.

I agree. I think Mslacat just is Mr Basketball Jones so he is always thinking about something related to hoops. Bo can coach as long as he wants.
