Who should Haslam target for the New HC since BK only has a one year contract

Interesting. This coming year I expect the Griz will go 8-4 at worst and 11-1 at best, but I expect 9-3.
UM vs:
SUU - win
Drake - win
UTU - win
Oregon State - definite loss
UC Davis - not sure
UNC - win
NAU - win
Idaho - not sure
EWU - win
PSU - win
ISU - win
MSU - not sure
Why is Oregon State a definite loss?

Sam Houston won in Corvallis in 2025, Montana can definitely win that game.

I think he probably has to beat the cats and get to Nashville to get renewed. It almost feels like a certainty that we’re gonna go in a new direction for 27. With a new president incoming, that will be a good time to hit the reset button.
I hope Haslam was honest with him about what the expectations for next year are.

The Beav's have a new coaching staff. Ja'Marcus Shephard is the new HC, and has assembled a very good, experienced coaching staff. The Griz will not be facing the Oregon State team from last year.

I am questioning our HC a little. I think, after the presser, we are all aware he is a "players coach". That's great. I am leery after Kennedy evaded the questions regarding anything new scheme-wise, if he was going to bring in anything different. He is going to let Pease do Pease and Cooper/Hauck do Cooper/Hauck? Is he capable of taking the reins and making playcalls or is he going to leave everything up to the OC/DC's? I get that a HC is a manager and leader, but I would feel a bit more comfortable knowing the new HC actually had some ideas about HOW to win championships. The 3-3-5 is not a championship winning defense. It's a band aid at best. Pease did a good job with the offense, but UM lost quite possibly the best RB's coach they have ever had. Who is he going to get for a STC? Is he going to address the elephant in the room with S&C? Who will the new WR's coach be, he will not be able to manage the entire team AND coach WR's exclusively.

Tese are the reasons I am writing Oregon State off as a definite loss. Bobby Kennedy is not Ja'Marcus Russell, and Tim Hauck is not Mike McIntyre. I will call the game right now and say it's going to be a 21+ point loss.

This entire post is silly.

We just had the official intro of Bobby Kennedy yesterday and already people are looking to replace him.

One year contracts for coaches in Montana in any sport and any school are nothing new.

Kennedy said in his presser yesterday that his is his last job and after saying how it was nice to have transparency, did the fact that he said he wants his tenure to be a long one get lost?

Lets see how 2026 turns out before we start rolling out names for a replacement at least.

Hauck's last extension was 3 years and Vigen's last extension was 4 years. Programs do this so that there's not uncertainty about who's going to be the coach. Realistically, a one year deal and an interim title are no different in this situation, so speculating on who could be the next coach is logical.

I don't think he has to get the team to Nashville. That's unrealistic for a first year head coach that isn't from NDSU. I would say he has to guide the team to a win over the puds and make a run to the quarterfinals at the least. There has been too much player turnover to expect otherwise. UNLESS...

Unless the transfers come in and make an immediate, significant impact, I expect the team to at least get 9 wins, maybe ten. I am 100% confident they are gonna get rolled by the Beavers. I explained my reasons for that in a different post. The only other losses I can see are maybe UC Davis, which I don't really see happening, and the puds. Until the defense is changed to an actual championship winning defense, a four man front type, IDC who the coach or players are, they are not going to beat the puds and are not going to win a national championship. You can argue the last with me until Roosters start laying eggs, but, as I have researched and pointed out, the last fourteen championships have gone to teams running a 4-2-5 or some hybrid version of a 4 man front.

I also think that an intro press conference isn't the place to just say...here are the wholesale changes. Let him have a day to breathe and talk with his assistant coaches. He is an offensive coach. Maybe they defensive coaches want to switch and now they can. Spring will be when we see if there are defensive changes obviously. Let's hope

New coach was officially announced yesterday and by the end of the day there's already a thread discussing who his replacement will be next year. Rough gig.
