As some of you know, I attended the UM/Cal Poly playoff game last year. I wasn't sure who to root for (after all I hate Cal Poly almost as much as UM), but I ended up cheering for the Griz (mostly on the inside). I hung out with my Dad's friends at their tailgate, they gave me a beer, and beer is always a good way to butter me up.

Well now who do I root for? I'm leaning towards the Griz because I think they have the depth and the best shot of possibly upsetting a 2-4 seed, and I love to see the Sky show well. NAU has a decent shot too, but after they got kicked by WKU (and I just watched WKU get trounced by Southern Alabama), I would have to say NAU might not be the best bet.

I'm so confused, who do I root for? (in the words of Dan Akryod, if you know the movie then you rock)
 
Go for the Griz - for the good of the conference - If the Griz win the BSC is guaranteed 2 teams in the post season, because NAU is guaranteed an NIT slot. Plus UM has a higher RPI than NAU = better seed in NCAA's = better chance for upset = more TV money for the BSC = more money to MSU.

See by roting for Um you are practically rooting for MSU. :dance:
 
I don't HATE the cats, and I would cheer for them, being from Montana. Heck, I cheer for them 9 out of 10 football games a year...So be a sport and cheer for the Griz. :thumb:
 
I agree with grizftbl. I even went to a cat football game this year. My brothers and sister are cats. I have no problem with them doing well except when they play the Griz. Root for the griz.
 
CWR, I understand your dilemma. I've rooted for the 'Cats once in my life (when they were playing for the NC). Were it NAU and MSU playing, I've no idea who I'd root for either. I'd probably just watch the game and see who I "felt like" cheering for as the game went on, but I have an idea that it might be NAU. :shocked:
 
I would say root for Montana because they have a better chance of getting a better seed and a possible upset for the Big Sky in the Big Dance.

I would tell you to root for the griz because they are from Montana, but I have only been able to root for them once. THat time being the 2002 playoff game against McNeese because with a bobcat win, the griz would have proved that the 10-7 game was a fluke the following week. With that being said if I were you I would root for NAU. I know I would root for the jacks if the cats were in this situation.
 
Shame on you Cats will Rise....playoffs is the time of the year when in every sport all decent Montanans of all walks of life and all races, creeds, and colors pull together and root for the Grizzlies, because we are still in it.
