Being things are so slow here, let's talk some football, and analyze our talent. With the recent run of GRIZ getting shots, and making NFL rosters, who do you think has a decent, or better shot at making it?
My top 2 are Kistler, and Tripp.
Kistler is still pretty young, good size, strength, and a solid athlete for his size. He is extremely intriguing to me. He has improved steadily in his time here. Having Gragg as a coach certainly helps him a lot. I cannot see many games live any longer, and it is hard to focus on OL, rather it be on TV, or live. Last year our OL did awesome protecting our QB's, and the running game improved a lot. Kistler seemed to struggle a little with the quicker guys, with good strength. What are the keys for him to better his chances? What other OL might be able to get a look?
Jordan Tripp, for me, is the most impressive GRIZ on the field, and has the physical make up as well. The guy is very fast in pads, and has NFL LB speed/quicks. He is good at every aspect, blitzing, coverage, tackling, smart, very seldom makes an error, and comes up with key plays consistently. He is a good long snapper too, that helps his stock too. I really cannot find a glaring weakness in his skills, and physical make up. The only question mark on him, would be how well he recovers from injury? By the reports I hear here, and a few other friends of mine, who do not post on EGRIZ, he is likely to be better than before his injury. He is ready for an All American type season. I hope that is true.
I wish our secondary was not so young. There is a lot of physical talent at Safety, but have we seen enough of any our safeties to have a true indication of their ceiling? Last year, as the year progressed, Hermanson really had me impressed, come the end of the season. Cornerback, if anyone can make a legitimate case for any of them, more power to you. We really have not seen any of them in any extended time.
DL, I am sure we have a few guys that will emerge. I just don't know which ones it will be.
WR-same situation as CB's. Lots of unproven talent, and we need to see who emerges? Take a shot, if you are comfortable. I do agree with Growler was right on part of his comment on our WR thread. We have not seen enough to honestly judge what any of these guys can do.
TE- This always a position , where we have talent, but likely not have a TE drafted. I like Hardy's combination, and tools. I see no reason why he cannot get invited to a camp, just like Pfahler, Beaudin, Middleton, got invites. Haas does not have the weight or strength to get to that level. I am very intrigued by the athleticism Clay Pierson brings to the position. Can he develop enough for rest of his college career to be considered a long shot? He is starting his collegiate career awfully late at TE.
RB-Sorry, just do not see an NFL talent there, yet. If, there were to be a guy to emerge, I like Canada. I just don't see it yet.
QB-I don't see it in of our returnees. If JJ is our starting qb, none of the young guys with the size will able to show their talants for a few years. Unless Rosenbach tweeks the offense a lot, I don't see anyone beating out JJ, other than the worse case outcome, which I don't want to get into here.
For those of you who have seen our incoming FR play, which ones should we be keeping an eye on most? I continually hear great things about Craig, Kidder, and Gamboa, and the incoming OL recruits. For those of you who can comfortably comment on the newbies, can you expand on what and why to keep an eye on them? What kind of progression is realistic for them?
I hope we can have a civil discussion on this, and keep an open mind to anyone, without calling someone out. Let's have some fun football talk on this. :thumb:
