I was soooo nervous about this game, Stuckey kept the Eags in it, wow...

Notable stats ;

Criswell: 6-13, 25 points
Dlouhy: 4-8, 11 points 3-6 from 3 point range
Hasquet: 1-7, 2 points
Matthews: 3-12, 11 points
Martin: 3-5 8 points
Strait: 7-11, 14 points

Ellis had 7 assists, 0 points for Mayes, Chavez and Sharp.

Stuckey finishes with 26, Penonce with 12.

I guess I'll cheer for Sac this evening, I like our matchup with them better.

Regardless, to win in the next round Virgil needs to take better shots, and it would help if Strait could get closer to 20 and Hasquet could get in double digits.

Go Griz!!!!

Ugly last 7-8 minutes of regulation for the Griz. Seemed lost of the offensive end with no real sense of purpose from my perspective. However, this time of year we'll take a win any way we can get it. With Coach K leading the troops, and players with championship game experience, I like our chances tomorrow night. The tough thing about playing in Flagstaff back to back nights is going to be conditioning (elevation). If we end up playing NAU, it's going to be a dogfight. Traditionally the Griz don't win too often in Flagstaff. Get some rest fellas.

kudos to the eastern announcer. well-prepared, extremely knowledgeable, thoroughly professional--n.b.a. caliber in my opinion. when criswell went out with a bloody arm, he even knew the name of our trainer, dennis murphy. pleasure to listen to this guy. anybody know his name?

I agree, the guy was good. :thumb: I also got a pretty good video feed (1.5 meg DSL helps.) I could have done without the instant replays blotting out live action though. Still, especially given the result, I'm grateful! :thumb:

Larry Weir (sp?). He also does football games.

Larry Weir has been doing it a long time and is fun to listen to and only a mild Eastern homer.

Great game. Some might bitch about the officiating, but I thought it was perfect. Perfect BSC. Inconsistent from end to end, and from half to half. But I think both teams got equally screwed and no one had an advantage.

It was nice to see our team show some heart and come back like they did. You would think that someone was open for Stuckey to dish to at the end of regulation, but he burned too much clock.

Good win Griz. You are clearly the better the team this year, but we'll be back. Now go smoke the Jacks.

So if the Griz win a close game it's ok? How come when the Zags win a close game they are considered overated?

Wow! Whatta great game. Thank god the griz had the will to win when it counted most. I think this proves that the griz are the team to beat in the BSC. When the chips are down, great teams find a way to win. You know, it's really hard to beat a team three times in a row in one season; and the Eagles proved that tonight. The griz are starting to resemble another team that plays its home games about 200 miles to the west of missoula, along I-90......Go griz. Go Zags.

All these stats and no final score? Nobody ever posts the final score on here.

because when the zags win close games and ranked #4 not 78 against lesser teams especially at home they seem overrated at #4. But hey remember in College football a couple years back when Ohio st when about 600 close games against some lesser competition.. well they still took the title. So who really knows. but we did blow out lmu here at went 2-0 against em. But we are not ranked #4. thats all. ZAGS vs GRIZ Let us pray lol. GO GRIZZZZ beat up nau

That was a close one. I loved Eastern's announcer. Real professional and a mild homer which is good for the team's announcer. He did an excellent job and I was impressed. As for the game that's a different story. WE MUST LEARN HOW TO FINISH!!!! I'm about ready to pull my hair out. We're going to need to play 40 solid minutes tomorrow if we stand any chance of winning cause NAU will put up some points. The offense was out of sync tonight. Shouldn't Hasquet be catching the ball out by the three point line and Strait in the block instead of the other way around? Tomorrow should be a really good game and unless we get everybody involved, including Strait in the post for the whole game, we are going to be in trouble. Hope the boys have enough legs to finish tomorrow as they'll need it with the altitude and our second half road struggles.

I enjoyed listening to him as well. He did a good/professional job.

I thought he picked on his own team a little bit though...he wasn't affraid to bash them:

"That was a horrible pass"
"The Eastern offense has been inept"

and my personal fav:

"Eastern is defending like a bunch of department store maniquins..."

I was going to post on those two performances as well.

Many on here were predicting Virgil to have great games in this tourney...I hope he has a big game tomorrow night on national television!

And 1 for 7 is a little different than scoring 30 recently, isn't it?

Basketball is a funny sport!

Larry's been Eastern's announcer for a really long time, and he's great to listen to. But you're right, he's not scared to bust the team out for some poor play.

Larry's great to listen to....he's been doing it at Eastern for a very, very long time. And yeah, he's not scared to beat up on the team if they're playing poorly.

and my personal fav:

Larry is esp. great when you compare him to that BOOB that does the NAU games...he is a WAY bigger homer than even Mick!!!!
