Where has Griz Nation spread to?

Huge Griz/Cat party at the Peanut Farm in Anchorage. Wear my Griz gear around town every game day Saturday I'm not in Missoula and hear "Go Griz" at least 2 or 3 times throughout the day!

Was in wal-mart in Montrose, CO a few weeks ago. I was wearing my Griz gear and a lady about 75 years old and hunched over her cart passed me in the veggie section and raised her right hand in the air and said "Go Griz". I responded with my own "Go Griz" and kept walking.

It was awesome.

Whew !!!! When you said she raised her right hand, I was TOTALLY afraid it was going to be another prostate story !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Since 1/4 to 1/3 of the SkyDome is filled with maroon clad Montanans every time the U of M plays in Flagstaff, I decided to post this for UrsaMajor. Has Louie branched out to do in-home proctology care? I'm not sure.

Was in Sewanee (Tennessee) this weekend. Had on an old Montana QB tee shirt on Saturday. Got 2 Go Griz comments, one a professor at Sewanee. Turned out his daughter graduated from law school in June with my daughter.

You should really ask AZDoc for permission on this one. He reportedly doesn't care for that angle of him.

Thanks Jack! Right before bedtime too. I'll be having nightmares about AZdoc!

In much the same way that most of the US thinks New Mexico is a foreign country, New Mexicans don't have much concept of anything north of Colorado.

On rare occasions I run across someone wearing Griz gear and I offer up a "Go Griz", only to be told that the clothing item was a gift from a relative or a trip souvenir. In 12 years in this state I have yet to meet one other real Griz fan. Just call me Tigger cuz apparently "I'm the only one"!

I ran into GRIZ fans often in the Denver area. I also have been told there are many spread throughout AZ. Many Mountain West fans gave me a hard time about us not being brave enough to play the bigger boys. Many of them thought we would compete nicely in the MWC. A lot of people in Colorado respect the GRIZ.

There's 5-6 alumni in Traverse City Michigan. Also former Griz FB coach Bernie (Bunny) Oakes' son lives here.
A couple years ago all the forestry schools in the country had a convention in TC. I received a invitation from the alumni association to attend a reception they were hosting. I attended figuring there might be a half dozen of us. There was almost 25 that showed up. Some of them were professors at other forestry schools of course, but many were from Northern Michigan. Most were forestry grads working for the state. It made me think if the U of Michigan was at a meeting in Missoula would they bother to invite their alumni to a reception. I doubt it! It's nice to be in the Grizzly family.
BTW there are also several Bobcats in the area. They only surface about every 3 years. Once they disappeared for 16 years.

I'm now here in Hilton Head Island, SC and almost every time I take a walk on the beach, I hear a "Go Griz"! Now, to be honest, I later find out that many of those cheers come from App St and Georgia Southern fans but it's also a sign of respect for our program. I still get to watch almost every game via "Audience" (Root Sports) on DIRECTV Now as well as other streaming options. Still, nothing like being in Section 109 in Wa-Griz and cheering for the team I love.

I'll be brutally honest, i run into a lot of folks that have never even heard of our program. I'm not gonna come on here and blast about how everyone in the United States knows the Griz. I'm the one guy in my office that has his office decked in Griz stuff, and everyone is like Montana? I work in Colorado now but same thing when i lived on the east coast. Moving back to Montana in a year, thank god!

My office (in San Antonio) looks like a Griz shrine. Yeah, I get crap from all the UT and A&M grads/fans, but they're slowly being converted....every Monday 4-5 of them stop by and want to know how the Griz did, or to talk about the game...we're taking over the world, one fan at a time. 8-) 8-)

Lot's of Griz fans and Montana Tech graduates in northern Nevada.
Hell lots of Butte and Anaconda people here.
Last week at our city's centennial celebration a young kid wearing a griz jacket came to get some cake we were serving, I gave him the Go Griz and asked if he watched the game he just stared at me like I was crazy. When he walked away my wife informed me I was a dumbass because that was our sons old jacket she had donated to the thrift shop and that boy had no clue who the Griz were.

You better take some of them to Frisco with ya when the Griz make it there!
