When will Tinkle get his first D-1 win?

I predict Tinkles first win against a division one opponent will be Dec 9 hosting UC-Riverside, a horrible program. This means he will be 1-7 at that point with his only win against the Lights of MSU-N, another NAIA rat ball powerhouse.

His team got blown out by a team in Utah and lost to a bad Wyoming program. He barely beat NAIA powerhouse midegets Rocky Mountain College. These are the same players that almost made it to the sweet 16?

The Girz play tougher teams in the next games than they've faced. They may have a shot against Marist in the 7th and 8th place games in the Orlando Tourney? But they again will get blown in their first two games at that tourney.

They then play Boise State and Western Ky. Finally, Riverside will come to Zoo town, and Tinks may get his first win...to be 2-7.

Watch it happen!!! Tinks doesn't know how to motivate or win!!!

You need to stop drunken posting. Tinks didn't get to where he is by being a loser. The Griz will win 2 at the TGiving tourney and then WAX Boise State. The players will run through a wall for Wayne and once they find their stride, they will roll the BSC.

Tinks got to where he is because he is a Master Politician, not a great coach. When Holst and Kennedy left crappy programs, Tinkle managed to keep his job when other assistants left. He was a big part of those losing programs.

Don Holst career record at UM 57-56 (Tinkle joins staff)
Pat Kennedy career record at UM 23-35 (when Tinkle had the most impact in his assistants role)

Meaning before Larry arrived Tinkles impact on the program in terms of wins and losses was 80 wins-91 losses.

Then Larry came and did his thing, motivating, leading and winning.

Now we are back to Wayne. How did he "stick around" when the program was 80-91 with him involved as a coach?

Master Politician, and BSer.

Let's see if he can coach? First D-1 win in December.

Tinks4Prez...Why did you choose that screen name? Exactly what I'm talkin' about.

Great Politician but we're going to see about the coching...The wins will be few and far between.

Hope we beat Riverside

Tinkle had a division 1 win against Weber State when Kennedy was suspended :)

What's with all the negativity anyway? Were you this negative when the Griz got blown out by BSU last year?

beastie-have you ever made a positive post in you life? The childish nature of your posts is regretable.

Beastie must have been beaten one on one by Tink's daughter and he is still reeling over it. Must suck to be so negative all the time, maybe Mickey D's will put him in charge if fries soon.

Sorry egriz, but I am about to say something very uncharacteristic of me regarding fellow egrizzers. To all the Tinkle bashers (isn't it way too early for that?), SCREW OFF!!!!!! Give this team some time and see what happens.
To the bashers, Where in the hell were you when he was hired? Had you thought he was such a sorry hire, you should have stated it then!!!!!!! But no, you hide in a hole and just bash away, that low and go back to the hole you crawled out of.

As for Tinks, Hill, Duchesne, and Marso, I know each coach and player. I think the world of them and respect each one. Do I think a new staff will have some growing pains and we need to find some leadership? Yes I do. However, I have all the faith in the world in each coach and player. Does griznation have high expectations? Hell yes and rightfully so!!!! Those players and coaches also have high expectations. It does not help having yahoos like you bashing them this early. Damnit, I do not care what the sport is or who the coach is, I believe in supporting every coach and player as positively as I can. Especially 1st year head coaches.

Regardless of the outcome of the 06/07 season, the future is looking bright. This staff and players will learn together. I can guarantee you these players will run through a wall for TINKS!!!!
There will come a time when the players will collectively take it upon themselves to do whatever it takes to be successful. After all the team motto is "Play hard, Play Smart, Play together!" Anyone know what basketball coach was the 1st to subscribe to those 3 simple rules? FYI, the coach that started that was the GREAT Dean SMITH!!!!!! (enough said) At least that shows me Tinks has his sights set high!!

I do not know who on egriz has taken the time to truly get to know these players and coaches. I have, each and every member or this team has been polite, cordial, professional, and friendly to myself, friends and family. I can honestly say it is a pleasure to know each and every member of the griz. Yes I admit it is harder for me to knock this program than it is any other griz sport. That is because the team has been so receptive to letting a fan such as myself get to know the team.

Also I challenge any basher to ask what kind of experience griz cage campers have experienced the last 3 years. I have seen the camp the last 3 years. Those kids, young and old, talented and not so talented have a great time Thanks to the players (including football players), and coaches who have worked hard to make for great camp!!!!!!! At the very least appreciate the efforts they are making to be involved in the community. I also know many of these players take time to work with community kids by spending time with them in classrooms!!

Sorry for the rant. The naysayers are entitled to your opinions, just as the optimistic are entitled. My biggest beef is not the opinion, but how soon you are bashing a great guy in TINKS!! Cripe sakes he is in a new position. How many of us never had growing pains in new positions and had much to learn? What makes coaching any different? Back off TINKS and the players at least to see how the season ends. Save the bashing for after the season is over!!! However I believe this team and coaches will prove you wrong once again. Some us actually have faith!!!!

GO GRIZ!!!!!!!

Tinks may be a master politician-if so thats to his credit. With his resume he certainly deserves the chance to be head coach.
As for the players I have no doubt that they are quality young
men since generally speaking that is what montana recruits.
I do think that in terms of coaching presence his staff is weak compared to last season-Tinks himself, Huse, etc.
Remember we are talking about D-1 hoops. Being a quality
nice person in great however there is a W and L column and that
comes down to knowledge, execution, and motivation. Being
nice is a plus but it won't win games. time will tell how things
come together-no one deserves success more than Wayne+
this group of players who isn't lacking for talent. Lets hope they
get the job done. It will take adjustments.

Beastie.......Spanky says, let's be fair and give this new head coach a chance to succeed and with hard work and our support, he will. Coach bashing at UM will do nothing but harm our programs and UM. Let's leave the supervision of our coaches to Jim O'Day.

Okay, I'm going out on a limb, and predicting that we give West Virginia a game and maybe beat them.

That's a stout limb: West Virginia lost to mighty Mt. Saint Mary's.

huse did indeed, thanks to a lucky bounce in the scheduling. idaho may be the most woefully pathetic 1-a team in the country.

What's the "-a" got to do with the "1" in NCAA division 1 basketball? There is no such thing as 1-a in basketball. That Division 1A Idaho football program has sucked so much money out of the Idaho basketball program, it no wonder Idaho basketball is pathetic in just plain old Division 1 without any letter division in basketball.

This team is LOADED!!!!!!!!!! The Griz will win a lot of games this year once we get some confidence and things start working. I am usually (considered) a negative poster, but I am not down on this team at all. I am very excited about this team.

Utah Valley State and Wyoming are both VERY tough places to win, which shows those that ripped our non-conference schedule as weak (which I did not) are clueless. They were great prepatory games for us-win or lose. We played both teams tough for stretches, leading early in both, which is a sign Tinkle gets the team ready to come out from the gate playing well.

There are some kinks to work out for sure, but pre-seasons means zilch for Big Sky teams. Why even worry about the record...seriously? It means nothing. No Big Sky team is gonna get an at-large unless they are ranked, which has been a long time. As long as we're ready come Big Sky Conference season, that is all that matters-Be one of the top 2 regular season teams, which we are still looking very-much in line for. Anyone that talks about strength-of-schedule, and RPI are way over-analyzing things. We're gonna play a (supposedly) much-better team in the NCAA if we get there no matter what. When and IF we win the Big Sky Conference tourney, I'm not gonna worry how the MSU-Northern game dropped us from a 13 to a 14 seed. We need to do whatever it takes to get IN, and we need to go on the road and learn how to win on the road and play some good competition that will help us come league time and we're doing that.

and yeah Tinkle already won a game filling in for Cell-Phone Kennedy, so this topic is beyond lame, it is ignorant.
