When will the griz beat the Cats again?

As soon as next year, like any program, the cats are 1-3 injuries from being dog shit. Cute you tried though.

The Cats had a good many key injuries this year and players stepped up. Same will happen next year. They have good depth.

Not true, these Cats proved over and over and over again that Vigen's vision, recruiting, player development (Including the double rep system that I cannot believe all schools don't do), lead to a program with truly talented depth at almost every position with little to no drop off when starters go down.

No, it actually is pretty sad for our State. It really points out what a difference leadership makes.

Ferguson used to post here...he was run off because he was wrong soooo friggin often it was predictable. His posts were worse than you-know-who. He might be an alum, but he doesn't get to speak for all of us.

Things will change over time, but the cream will always rise to the top...the truth is UM is and always has been the cream of Montana's educational system. It's just a matter of time...

I don't think so. I'm not saying um might not see some growth and resurgence over the next couple decades but zero chance they'll ever catch MSU again. It's geography, leadership, and $$. MSU is now the premier flagship institution in the state and has been for some time, and MSU will continue to grow.

So after reading that article. He mentions that Montana has a better stadium….better basketball arena….built the champions center sooner than the cats built what they just built.

Will have an indoor bubble facility next year….the cats wants to build a more permanent structure similar to what South Dak State did but won’t be for a couple of years. So by all account UM is still winning the facilities race.

Nobody is denying the academics side MSU is way ahead. We’ve been talking about it for years. Waded has been a god send for that university. I question how long she will continue to run it with the success she’s having. Someone bigger will want her. Same with their AD….he’s been successful at building facilities in the past stops. So they’re catching up to what Haslem has already accomplished.

We all know it’s going to take time for UM to build momentum as a university. But arguing that msu has passed us in athletics because they’ve been on a good run over the last five years is ridiculous.

It will be interesting to see what happens when your leadership leaves. Kinda like what happened to UM multiple times over the last 15 years. When I was at UM from 2008-2012. We were doing what MSU is now. Building new facilities. About 16k students. Dominating at every level. We had a good president and AD. Then they left. Waded has been the best president MSU has ever had. It’s funny that people forget how these people come and go.

The Cats were never without their 2 very good QB's. Who are your best players on D. Were they ever out? I hope the Cats do well, but I would also have liked to see them get the butts kicked by NDSU again. As I've said, I realized as the season went on that the Cats were better than I had thought, and they crushed the Griz (which surprised me), but I'm thinking the Cat bubble is going to burst fairly soon.

Why do you think it will burst?

Yup, and Ian Davidson once told me that George Dennison was the best president UM ever had. The Cats have done well in the last decade with the president, big donations, and popular majors (engineering and computer science, finally). Also with athletics, starting with men's and women's basketball, and now football. More power to them. It makes for a better state, and better education and competition. I don't like the Griz to lose to the Cats in sports, but I'm glad UM sports have come pack to life and the crowds/excitement have returned to the stadium.

I went to high school and junior high in Bozeman, and my family lives there. My stepdad was a mechanical engineering prof at MSU, for almost 3 decades. I like Bozeman. However, I like the town of Missoula much better. Downtown Missoula is better and more fun. Eclectic. Better shape. A river runs through it. Less fancy people per capita. The Bozeman skiing is better, but the town of Missoula is much better and more fun, in my opinion. Can I do some more name-dropping. My uncle bought all of the flat Town Center land at Big Sky in about 1970. My cousins have developed it. Just sold it to the PE people who have/had the YC. That side of my family (and my brother) have had a big lumberyard since the late 40s. Bozeman has been a berry berry good place to have a lumberyard. They are almost all Cats. FTC.

It’s crazy that if the Griz would have beat the cats the sky would be falling in msu and Vigen would be on a two game losing streak to the Griz. Their program would have questions. Can Tommy win the big game????? Oh the horror.

Instead they won and now UM will never be the same and we will never beat the cats again and Bobby sucks at coaching and there’s more cranes in Bozo….yada Yada Yada Yada

The same cat fans crowing about Vigen and how we're never going to beat them ever again were making serious calls for him to be canned last year after they lost to us (after saying before the game that we were never going to beat them again  ).

The hyperbole is insane.

Both QB’s missed games (although not at the same time).

I believe they had multiple OL that were out, one of which was a convert from DL that somehow managed to become an all-conference type player in less than a year at a new position (coaching!!), 4-5 RB’s hurt, starting LB hurt, starting safety out half the season.

At some point, injuries are just an excuse. Late in the season no team is healthy. Those other guys are all good enough to get scholarships here, all good enough for the coaches to recruit them here…if the depth isn’t good enough to withstand a few injuries, that’s an indictment on the coaches, imo.

If the Griz meet the Cats in Frisco, the Griz will beat the Cats. Otherwise, next season.

I’m genuinely curious.

What gives you any indication the defense will stop that offense? It didn’t happen one time.

Even if there are no turnovers, we still lose by at least 14.

They have another Chambers next year? All it takes is one Sac State defender to fuck up your season.

Well he’s a junior, so he’ll be back.

Chambers has another year of eligibility left, Our #3 is out for the season, fall camp injury, our #4 is looking pretty good and has quite a bit of playing time this year.

Do you really think chambers is coming back next year?
