When to get excited!

Why would anyone care about a signature win? To me, that's a dumb question. Look at the overall season. Look at the record. Were we in the playoffs? How did we do? Signature win? Maybe the Micky D supporters give you a blank look because they've never heard such a dumb or irrelevant question.

Here's some more funny responses I have received before:

I get excited for the next game as soon as the current game ends. No matter our opponent or where the game is at, I am so excited I cannot sleep. The game cannot get her soon enough for me. I love sports. I have favorite teams in all the professional sports. With that said, Montana GRIZ Basketball and Football are my favorite of favorites. I cannot do without either, they are part of my life. I consider my blood family, a few friends, and GRIZ NATION as family. I am proud to be part of GRIZ NATION.

Speaking of GRIZ NATION, I know we have all kinds of fans. We are all passionate about the GRIZ. We all react differently to what we see of the teams. I feel nobody should apologize for whatever kind of fan they are, or how they show their passion. We are all part of the GRIZ NATION family. Bitching, complaining, complementing, positive, negative, etc are all part of this family. I don't like when people bitch, moan, complain, and criticize without adding more. I like seeing posts, observations, and opinions offering suggestions to go with the bitching, moaning, and criticism.

If anyone here expects me to stop being passionate for GRIZ Football and Basketball, save your breathe, it won't happen. I admit, I am a hard ass and have very high expectations for our programs. If I see something that needs improved, I will voice my opinions, suggestions, etc. On the other end of the spectrum, I will also complement on what I like of players, coaches, team etc. I will give praises when I feel they are deserved. I am doing that this year regarding our defense and Ty Gregorak. By the way, I do believe we will continue to see defensive adjustments and improvements from his defense and staff.

I wish I could say the same about the offensive side of the ball. Trust me, I want those coaches to prove they can make the necessary adjustments to their personnel. As of yet, they have not done that in the past year to make the offense consistently better.

That is well put. I have found that "fan" boards for the most part are not about Reality, just emotions, based on the phenomenon of group perceptions. Fans boards are great Psych experiments. The reason why playing Devils Advocate is a fun game
 
I get excited every Saturday morning knowing there's a Griz game on. And let me tell you, having to wait until 8:00 p.m. for the USD game to start almost KILLED ME!!!! I don't need this team to be perfect, and I don't need them to be world beaters every stinkin' year. I'm a Griz fan, not a bandwagon fan.
 
PR is right, who gives a s--t what a "SIGNATURE WIN" is. THE ONLY win I would care MORE about, and put more weight on is the one where the Griz were ahead of whoever when the clock struck zeros in Frisco, Texas in January. NOW THAT'S A SIGNATURE WIN!

Personally, I don't give a dump how the Griz get the job done as long as it's a W at the end of the game. I know it pains a lot of fans who just can not let go of 1993-1996, but I just don't need to be dazzled by a certain style of offense or a certain style of coaching. I was there for every single snap in those years, right in the front row of the student section, and I loved every damn minute of it, but next year is the 20th anniversary of the 95 national championship. I might be a little thick-headed but I'm not too thickheaded to realize things change in 20 years, and nothing lasts forever. My passion for Griz football grew out of those years when I was a student at UM, but I have also let the past go a long, long time ago, and I think I'm a more proud Griz fan today then I was 20 years ago. Especially, given everything this program has endured over the last four years, I don't take one day of Griz football for granted. And I'd be just as excited to wake up Saturday for Homecoming if the Griz were 0-4.

But I'll go ahead an answer the dumb question by garrizzlies, by your definition, the Griz don't have a signature win from 2013 and into the first four games of this season. Satisfied?

I disagree with this statement...I believe every win is a signature win regardless! Thank God for what we have and be thankful you can watch in person or on TV these young men play this game.
 
Actually reinell, you're not disgareeing with me. garizzlies said in order to have a signature win, the Griz have to beat a playoff bound team. So I was answering his question. If you read my full post, you'll see I don't believe in signature wins. I believe a WIN IS A WIN IS a win
 
Dunno. I get excited and nervous and all hot and bothered before every game, regardless of the opponent or weather it be at the stadium, on tv or on the radio.

"Personally I don't give a dump on how the Griz get the job done just as long as it's a W at the end of the game" Well HavFan.....that pretty much sums up why the Griz are on NCAA probation, vacated half the wins in one season, cheated by playing ineligible players, called a team of "Thugs" by a distinquished alumni and lost some scholarships while embarrassing the whole State through the media!!! With attitudes like that it's really no wonder that the fanbase just doesn't "GET IT"...and HavFan you're no better than the rest of them. Nuf said!!

If you couldn't or chose not to read the rest of my sentences, talking about coaching and style of play then...oh forget it, I don'tt need to defend myself to you. FACE IT, there will just be some MSU fans who hate everything so much, they can't even objectively read a post. AND yes, there are some Griz fans that are that way on BN i'm sure too.

JFC!!

I rarely agree with stuff cat fans post on our board, but they are 100% correct on this: we have far too many spoiled assed cry baby fans. GTF over it. No team is dominant forever. Few if any have had the level of success the GRIZ have had, and are continuing to have. If you must win every time to get your self-worth, may I suggest 2nd grade checkers.

And thanks to those of you who posted rational thoughts on here.

I also get excited for every game and have since the days the annual Montana/Wyoming game was in Billings, but for slightly different reasons. My excitement comes from what may happen in the next game that shows growth of the team's capabilities, things that may not be anticipated. This anticipation is even higher for tougher opponents, particularly on the rare occasions when the Griz are underdogs. Probably explains my reduced energy for lower tier BSC or cupcake games when the outcome is so predictable. Evaluating the growth of Griz capabilities is far more meaningful against tough opponents and success far more satisfying.

Unlike PR and others, however, I have room for those that look through clear glasses in providing reality checks to what the Griz have actually achieved. When these critiques are valid facts, attacking the messenger is just bush. Unless they are MSU trolls....
