When Stitt leaves, who should be the next coach?

I get a laugh out of all the derogatory comments on this board regarding Stitt coming from the lowly DII head coaching ranks. The only 2 national championships won by UM were coached by guys that were previously DII head coaches.
Of course the first one had PAC-10 HC experience and the second had UM assistant experience.

I'll play along. Assuming for one the Maroonblood gang is right, and Stitt's intentions have been leaked, which makes whoever in the athletic dept. who leaked it, an idiot because it could very well cost him his job based on what I know of Haslem, I can tell you for a FACT there's going to be some upper-classmen that will be gone too, and potentially ONE VERY BIG RECRUIT. Also, the whole "the Mines guys should be fired or quit but all former Griz players who are assitants have no culpability and should be retained" crowd, don't hold your breath on that one either. Just because they're former Griz will NOT mean they will be retained. That's ALSO A FACT. So those of you who wish for a new coaching staff, you're essentially wishing for a lot of your ex-Griz to be out of a job too. That's the coaching gig.

Who'd want a 3* QB anyway? Sheesh...

Why would Stitt leaving cost us this QB? I don't buy for one minute that the main reason he committed was because of Stitt. The kid is only 5'11". He will probably not be getting any significant FBS offers, so where else is he gonna go? Yes, size DOES MATTER! Ask PR's wife!

I dont think being 5'11 is a non-qualifier for FBS level football. There are far to many instances of successful short QB's for that to be legitimate.

Name 5 of them in the last 20 years.
Dee Dowis
Drew Brees
Kellen Moore
Russell Wilson
Doug Flutie
Chase Daniel
Senaca Wallace

Troy Smith
Ty Detmer
Michael Vick possibly? I don't think he was a legitimate 6 foot.

Drew Brees is 6'. Chase Daniel is 6'. So, in 20 years, with 105 FBS teams, that is over 2000 QBs playing, and only 5-6 of them were below 6'? Kinda proves my point, right?

I've met Drew Brees. I'm 6'. He's 5'10 at best. But that dude can throw the rock.

There was this one poster under 45 screen names who used to lie about playing baseball at UM and was super obsessed with PR. Total poser douche, right?

I have as well...I’m 5’11”. I was taller. Chase Daniel is also less than 6. Either way...not many

I would consider Rich Wright. He is the head coach of Northwest Missouri State. They have recently won 3 national championships including last year and are 8-1 this year. He just took over the head coaching spot this year but he was their defensive coordinator the last six. Their defense gives up an average of 8.7 points per game. He has been on a winning staff and knows how to recruit and coach a tough defense.

Or maybe Wright could be our new D coordinator. Why not keep our offense, let Stitt develop Jensen and Robinson, keep our young WR's and Calhoun next year, let him develop some of these stud O-lineman he's recruited? And am I the only one who wants to see what Stitt can do with Terron Moses next year?

From Moses's bio: Rushed for 1,991 yards on 138 carries as a senior… Averaged 14.4 yards-per-carry and 181 yards-per-game his senior year, with 11 touchdowns… Rushed for over 100 yards in all 12 games of his senior season… As a junior rushed for 1,922 yards and 36 touchdowns… Averaged 13.2 yards-per-carry and 174 yards-per-game his junior year…

I know rich quite well. Northwest is a crazy atmosphere for D2. He’s pretty settled in maryville, new head gig, and the interesting aspect is he knows Stitt very well. Super guy...truly a class act. I wanted him to be the DC when Stitt got hired. I mentioned an RW in a post a couple years ago for that reason...I wanted him in maroon. I’d guess it’s a pipe dream unfortunately.

How about everyone just be respectful and let the season play out?

Go Griz.

Funny, I thought you had said it already was on numerous occasions. ;)

Yeah. But. Don’t want ppl to lose their jobs. Nothing fun about that.

Just let it play out.
