When is it going to leak out or get announced that Vigen is departing?

I personally think OSU should go with BV. He has shown he can do something with “nothing” and get the best out of players. Granted MSU was in solid shape when he took over. But OSU surely has overall better facilities, more money to build with and I’m will to imagine deeper booster pockets. OSU overall has a much higher ceiling to reach and I think if BV could go there and get that program turned around he could really do well for himself and would most certainly open the doors for bigger opportunities. Also keep in mind that OSU is going to be thrilled to have a string of winning seasons to start. If BV can get them to a bowl game in year two or three he’s a golden boy. That’s pretty achievable really as he could draw from talent he has on rooster at MSU if those kids would be willing to follow there coach and a chunk of his staff. Plus OSU has to have some talent on that team that would stick around if BV signed on. Those kids at OSU are a shrinking ship really and nothing to play for at this stage.
OSU will certainly want to make an announcement of there new head coach by this weekend or they may find the program is forced to start completely over with max exodus of players. I think it’s imperative OSU makes its decision and announcement ASAP to avoid that.
Out of curiosity, when has Vigen shown he can do something with nothing?

If vigen is hired away, he'll no doubt bring some of his top staff, and some top talent including qb, and lineman. It will be a much bigger adjustment than choate leaving to Texas, as choate did not take any staff or players with him. The only player that followed him from Montana was Gabe Sultzer from UM 😭😂

The biggest thing going for MSU is the amount of Montana studs they have, id assume they all largely stay with MSU. I bet guys like Adam Jones, Cole Taylor etc stay with msu. I bet the dowler twins stay, etc.
Taco in particular has apparently been approached with offers since the Oregon game according to the Cat board, I wouldn't be surprised if Vigen convinced both to follow him especially if they got some $$

Could certainly be the case, there were rumors swirling about taco hitting the portal after the natty last season.

No there wasn’t nothing as he started. Though Choate certainly wasn’t Sabin. He beat the Griz so he is glorified and remembered with rose colored vision. Yet he left only a mildly successful program.

Vegan then produced the best stretch msu football has ever seen. You have the best won-loss record and for the first time in 40 years a Championship Game appearance. I’d say Vegan has done pretty well.

Vigen also deserves credit for making Montana State so good while the winningest coach in the history of the Big Sky is over in Missoula. If Vigen was around when Choate was during the Stitt era the programs would probably be a lot further apart then they are currently.

Totally agree that Vigen has done an awesome job, he was the perfect guy for MSU. I'm just saying, he didn't come into a bare cupboard. MSU was a semi-final team the year before with a ton of talent returning on the roster (quite a few NFL guys). Vigen helped that team take the next step to Frisco the following year. He took a very good program on the rise and made it great, and has done an awesome job of reloading talent for sustained success.

Sheeeeiiiiiiit.

Just last year you guys were saying how you couldn't wait to see how Vigen would crash now that he didn't have Choate's guys left on the team. Now the narrative is that he made something out of nothing.

It's beautiful I tell you, simply beautiful.

Is Brent Vigen ready to leave Montana State?

Montana State head coach Brent Vigen, a disciple of North Dakota State program-builder Craig Bohl, has built his own a perennial FCS title contender: his Bobcats just clinched their third Big Sky conference championship over the past four seasons, and their fifth consecutive FCS playoffs berth.

It’s understandable why Scott Barnes and his search committee see potential in Vigen: Montana State, like Oregon State, is a state school in a rural town. If he can win at Montana State, he can win at Oregon State. However, Vigen has heard this same pitch before: last season’s coaching carousel saw Vigen draw interest from Fresno State, and Washington State, but he had a compelling reason to turn them down. Vigen’s eldest son Jake is a redshirt sophomore defensive end, and his middle son Grant is a true freshman quarterback, both clad in Bobcat blue & gold. Few coaches would pass up a potential national title, and even fewer would walk out on their own family. If the Beavers are really serious about Vigen, they might need to wait for him.

When does Oregon State want to announce?

Officially, the transfer portal opens back up on January 2nd. Unofficially, coaches and their intermediaries are likely scheming behind the scenes to woo student-athletes. Oregon State heir-apparent quarterback Tristan Ti’a should receive interest from other schools, as should two-year starting middle linebacker Dexter Foster, textbook size & speed wide receiver Eddie Freauff, lengthy true freshman corner Trey Glasper, and others.

The pace of Oregon State’s hiring process - assembling a search committee and lining up interviews before the regular season ends - suggests that the Valley Football Center understands time is of the essence. The sooner the Beavers hire their coach of the future, the better chance they have of fending off a horde of poachers pursuing their best players. An announcement as soon as Sunday morning, following the conclusion of the Beavers’ season Saturday in Pullman, would give the new hire a head start.

Is Vigen like a really shitty interviewer or something? Kinda crazy he hasn’t gotten one of these jobs yet.
My honest opinion is that these bigger schools want their next coaches to join on immediately and give the new school 100% of their attention, and Vigen is not the type of guy that's going to abandon his team when they still have a chance to be champions.

Bozeman is one of the best places in the country to live if you have enough money. Unfortunately for the Griz maybe he likes it enough to stay there long term like Bobby Hauck in Missoula. Honestly he should have left last year if he was going to.

That doesn’t seem to bother Oklahoma State. They told Morris if they make the CFP that they’ll let him finish it out.
