Bobcat nation says he got a great thing going there's no way he leaves....he be stupid notApparently this guy got it right when he announced before the actual announcement that Trent Bray was being hired as OSU's head coach back in 2023.
Can you get us some inside information how Bergen is doing on the practice squad with the 49ers? I was hoping they would call him up at some point this season to get a look at his ability. I hope he is healthy and practicing well with the team. Patrick OConnell has waited a long time to get his shot and doing well, I hope Bergen gets the same chance.Maybe I am Walter, you guys always like to accuse everyone of being somebody else
They've got the bucks. Not just bucks, but BUCK$!!! And, if they run out of bucks, Daddy Warbucks will shovel some more their way. Look at the Head Coaches that were fired this year, and the payouts they received. The numbers are staggering. The bar was set at Texas A & M, a while back, who paid out, what, $50 million or more to get Jimbo out the door. God, I'm glad I don't have the headaches associated with having all that money. On the other hand, the price of Tylenol or Ibuprofen might be worth it.Vegan signed a long term deal in Bozeman.
Buy outs are a small matter for a larger University.

What a huge distraction right now for the Bobcats. No ifs-ands-or buts about it, this is a major distraction. Doesn't mean it will have a negative effect on the team but you have coaches wondering if they are going to be chosen to go to Oregon State, a small hand full of players wondering. He has past coaching connections angling for jobs. You have other former bobcat coaches angling for jobs to get back to Bozeman if Vigen leaves. Vigen has his recruits lined up that he could possibly try and take to Oregon. You have other recruits who are now going to think about it since Vigen no longer at MSU, do they want to open back up their recruitment? How fast can the cats get a full-time head coach in place to manage the transition? Again, doesn't mean this is going to negatively hurt the playoff performance of the team, but it is a Giant Cluster Furball. At msu-Bozeman you ride for the brand... until you realize it time to get the hell out![]()
He was the first to announce their last head coach hire tooWe just using random twitter dudes as sources now?
Agree the cats will be fine. They thought all was lost when Choate left and they got better. They’ll find another good coach. They might have a couple down years if Vigen takes a bunch of players with him but they’ll be fine..I don't believe it it the distraction many are claiming. College sports have changed and the year to year expectations are different. Players and coaches know this.
If vigen is hired away, he'll no doubt bring some of his top staff, and some top talent including qb, and lineman. It will be a much bigger adjustment than choate leaving to Texas, as choate did not take any staff or players with him. The only player that followed him from Montana was Gabe Sultzer from UMAgree the cats will be fine. They thought all was lost when Choate left and they got better. They’ll find another good coach. Point being, they've lost several dudes over the oast few years to graduation and transfer portal, especially key linemen. Thus far it hasnt been too much detriment, but vigen and staff leaving and taking some dudes from the lines and secondary would be tough. If vigen is hired away, he'll no doubt bring some of his top staff, and some top talent including qb, and lineman. The biggest thing going for MSU is the amount of Montana studs they have, id assume they all largely stay with MSU. I bet guys like Adam Jones, Cole Taylor etc stay with msu. I bet the dowler twins stay, etc.
Bingo! I laugh at all the MSU fans who say he won’t leave for whatever crazy reason they can come up with. The math you cited is reason alone. Factor in weather, better facilities, better competition and the potential for a huge contract down the road if he can turn that program around. Bob Hauck did the same thing for less money and a program that was a dumpster fire. If he would have been successful at UNLV he wouldn’t have come back to Montana. He would have taken a higher paying job.Imagine: You're 50 years old. Choose between:
It would take 7 seasons at MSU to make just one year of salary at Oregon State. Say what you want about "Waiting for a better program" to come calling. But at a certain point, it'd be silly to turn down $2 million. And Oregon State has a ton going for it.
- $295K salary at FCS Powerhouse MSU and live in Bozeman, MT where it costs 21% higher to live than the national average.
- $2 million salary at G5 Oregon State and live in Corvallis, MT where it costs 8% higher to live than the national average.
Wasn’t he right there for the JMU job before coming back when Cignetti got it?Bingo! I laugh at all the MSU fans who say he won’t leave for whatever crazy reason they can come up with.
