When is it going to leak out or get announced that Vigen is departing?

Just curious.

"Notable candidates reported to be in consideration
  • Matt Lubick: The current offensive coordinator at Kansas has reportedly been in talks with Colorado State. He is also the son of former CSU head coach Sonny Lubick.
  • Tony Alford: A former CSU running back and current Michigan assistant, Alford has publicly expressed interest in the job in the past and is once again a candidate.
  • Collin Klein: The offensive coordinator for Texas A&M is a Colorado native and a former Heisman Trophy finalist.
  • Brent Vigen: The current head coach at Montana State and a former assistant at Wyoming is also a reported candidate.
  • Bryan Harsin: The former Auburn and Boise State coach is currently the offensive coordinator at Cal and has also been mentioned.
Note: As of November 17, 2025, there has been no official announcement regarding a permanent head coach."

Colorado State is going to wait until Cats season ends to make major moves on their job unless Cats go on a deep run then they will abandon Vigen as a candidate. He has not gotten the job yet but he is serious enough of a candidate that CSU wants to wait until they can interview him before deciding what to do.

Colorado State’s only successful head coach was also the head coach of the bubs before going to Fort Collins.
Some chatter from a claimed CSU booster that they're going to target Tim Skipper if he doesn't get the UCLA job, was an Assistant Coach back in 2013 for the Rams (Running Backs and helped on the Defense as well).

I’ve heard there are a few guys they are targeting, Vigen being one but not the only one.

Good schools won’t wait that long.
CSU isn’t a good football school but it is doubtful they would wait that long either. I’m thinking quarterfinals or earlier he will be a serious candidate. They have potential to be a good football team in the new Pac 12. In my opinion CSU would do well to look at more in state guys especially since CU is doing very minimal in state recruiting. CSU has a nice stadium and it is a good school academically. The vet school for example is ranked second in the nation according to US News and World Report only UC Davis is better for veterinary school.

He won't leave for a bad school. CSU isn't a great school, but it would be a good place for him. There's recruiting and Portal work to be done. Plus a new coach has to hold what's already on the team.
There is a range between good and bad. Middle-of-the-road, mediocre, tolerable. It might just be time to make money, which is not a criticism.

By the looks of the CSU short list, Vegan appears to be their fifth choice. That's the sweet spot for Coach Six! Once everyone else turns the Rams down, he's gone from MSU. Probably take a couple players with him.

A guy who probably knows the details is former Griz coach Mick Delaney. Griz might be a better authority on what's happening than the Cats because of the Mick factor.

Progress! Coach Sixx to Coach Fifth!

Certainly would not shock me if he took this job, I think they would pay him pretty well. He's in the rumor mill at Oregon state also. I'm glad we hired him, and he's been a great fit. Hope he stays but he's earned a shot if he wants it.

There’s a lot more dominos to fall before any smart coach makes a move. Florida, LSU, Penn State, Oregon state, UAB….all are open. Rumors are that Fisch might leave Washington as well. The biggest contracts will be filled first, which will leave voids elsewhere, which is likely where a guy like Vigen would go. Colorado state might be open for a while unless they really open their checkbook.

I’m guessing Vigen is waiting to see what happens in Washington and who fills the other marquee positions.

Still wondering why I should care.
And I’m still wondering why you need to let everyone know that you still don’t care. Wouldn’t silence be a more effective display of indifference? This is a Griz and the FCS discussion section after all, and judging by the thread plenty of people are interested in the topic. Perhaps you can work out an arrangement with the moderators where you get to approve threads if they pique your interest. Otherwise you may find X/Twitter a better fit where you can enlighten everyone about what interests you.

I don't care what you think either.
