Whats the problem, 9 returners

The bad news is the Griz have already lost to two really crappy teams. You can't deny that. It's not like WY has a program that we are trying to emulate. We can already forget anything better than a 15 seed.

The good news, it's really early. Let's at least give them a Big Sky season before we throw in the towel on Tinks.

Griz lost to Weber State last year. Got blown out by Boise and ISU, for, god's sake! They still got a 12 seed, and proved they deserved it.

This is no time to wring your hands about the team. Last year they lost the first game in an embarrassing way, then eeked out a win over lowly UC Riverside. Confidence came as the season went on. They illustrated that by the way they played from behind. They would constantly fall behind in the second half (a situation that would have obliterated the spirit of past griz teams) and more often than not got right back in the game and won. The Wyoming game showed that this is almost the same team. Just a couple bad calls by the refs, that's all.

The griz could easily win the Old Spice Tourney and get enough confidence to sweep their 5-game home stand and then, guess what, they're 8-2 and everybody's got a griz boner again.

I wish. Do you have any idea how good SIU is? AR?
Not going to be easy by a streach! Can it be done? We'll just have to see.

LK had a 2 year run, in which he played a #1 seed to the wire, beat Stanford, and won a 1st round game against Nevada..He took over a team that was average at best, believe me I was at the games when Larry first came here, it wasnt pretty...Tinks inherited a team with 9 returning players one of them a preseason All-American, newcomers include a JC All-American, a 7'0 footer, and a guard in Rundles that was getting looks from Michigan State...Something isnt right.....Tinks and Marso dont equal LK and Huse sorry....

Shut up, knock it off with all this nonsense. Why dont you wait more than 3 games, and realize that all that matters in the Big Sky conference is Big Sky play. We will be right where we need to be at the end of the season, but for now, lets concentrate on West Virgina

Sports Junkie: LK didn't take over a team that was average at best.... I was also at the games when LK first came here. He had Kamarr Davis (JC All-American), and many of those returning players that you speak of right now. Matt Dlouhy, Andrew Strait and Matt Martin (who were all quite great gets for the Griz). He inherited a team that really showed a lot the last half of conference play the year before. He also brought in some great talent like Virgil Matthews who became a huge factor for the Griz towards the end of his first year here. Oh..and of course he also inherited a guy by the name of Kevin Criswell.. So I wouldn't exactly say that the cupboard was bare :) I think that team was much better than average :)

With a major coaching change like this, along with losing your two leaders (Criswell & Matthews) there's bound to be some struggling early in the season. The Griz will be fine by conference time, and probably even well before that. They lost to two teams on the road that rarely lose at their own place. It's really way too early to be judging this team & coaching staff so harshly I think.

We have 9 returning players from a team that won a first round game, beat Stanford, Loyola twice, Oral Roberts who beat #3 Kanasas...
What has changed???THE COACHES, Larry K and Brad Hughes...Those two were excellent coaches and they are greatly missed...That has been the difference to this point in the season, bar none....
We have the talent, the issue has been game planning and the execution of the offense

hey genius, in the 2004-05 season in Krysko's first year at the healm, how did his first 2 games go? Answer: We lost 2 road games....just like Tinkle did. No biggie! We all wanted to crucify Joe Glenn after his inaugaral 10-9? lose to Hofstra too. Now if Tinkle can't lead this loaded team into the Big Sky tourney (and hopefully a top 2 finish), then I'll worry about his abilities.

Utah Valley State and Wyoming are difficult places to win. Utah Valley is 3-1 (3-0 at home) and only lost at Cal by 13. I saw someone on here predicting they would lose by 30+ to them. They are not a bad team. I know nobody has ever heard of them, but they are legit. They are hosting 3 NCAA tourney teams from last year. How many are we? UVSU went 12-2 at home last year and 12-1 the year before and 8-1 the year before that (35-4 in the last 3+ years), FYI.

Wyoming is 3-0 all against D-1 schools. Are you SURE they suck this year? We have had the closest game against them of the 3 and lead by 8 at the half. Their back-court tandem of Jones and Ewing scored 56 and 51 against Boise and UAB, but we held them to 36.

Hey Zirg, i agree but LK had NO WHERE near the talent when he took over in his first season. LK didnt take over a team with 9 returners and a JC all american.
