What's going on with Rey green and Todd Jones RB recruitment?

So I've seen their names, their two names, on the offer list on this site since day one and heard absolutely nothing whatsoever about visits, or interest in the Griz program from either. It's roughly two weeks from signing day and I'm wondering what we're doing at this position. I remember the Texas kid who came up for the team camp and he shined at RB and WR (apparently he's gaining lots of interest in OK, MO, PA and TX)... I understand the need for a big bruiser back, but we need someone with that "wow" factor to compliment a power back if we're gonna go further in post season. I'm getting a tad bit sick of seeing so many QBs and Wideouts popping up on the committed list and not having our needs in the backfield addressed. The run compliments the pass and vice versa.... so what's with R. Green and T. Jones and why haven't we gotten someone that can play multiple offensive/return spots for us? If someone who has insight can un-dummy me I'd appreciate it.

While I do agree that it is strange that they both had offers so long ago, the Griz do have 7 RB on the roster for next fall. The one glowing weekness is that only Counts is over 200 pounds (at 215). I would look for one RB to be added, most likely a bruiser...

2016 fall roster
John Nguyen Sr.
Joey Counts Sr.
Lorenzo Logwood Jr.
Treshawn Favors Jr.
Jeremy Calhoun So.
Carl Johnson So.
Brody Martinez So.

Logwood...Favors....Martinez....Calhoun....

SOOO much promise there....so much talent. Would LOVE to see 2-3 of those break out and stay healthy all year...

No inside info....but here's my :twocents:

This year we have Jeremy Calhoun and John Nguyen in the backfield. I know a lot of people aren't high on Nguyen, but he's proven to be durable and can find yardage when it isn't there. I'm expecting Calhoun will take the primary role though.

Also, I think fans really need to get past the whole "BIG RUNNING BACKS PLEEEEEAAAAASE" mentality. We just need the back that can get the job done, and I think Calhoun is that guy. He runs through tackles like a big back and has more speed than Nguyen. Honestly he reminds me a little bit of Chase.

For more depth, we have Carl Johnson, Logwood, and Brody Martinez (my sleeper to break out eventually). In Stitt's recruiting presser last year he stated that we'll need to get another this year. Could be Todd Jones, maybe it's someone else.

We will never see Counts become a reliable RB....honest truth.

Favors & Logwood looked serviceable, but can they stay healthy enough to see playing time consistently?

Hard to say. Jury is still out, one thing is for sure is that Stitt isn't going to waste scholarships on players that can't contribute.

I know that the coaches were not happy with Favors pass blocking.

From the Official Athletic Site of the Montana Grizzlies (www.gogriz.com): 2015: Martinez is a true freshman for the Griz. He will redshirt the 2015 season.

Thus making Martinez a RS-FR in 2016.
