What would you rather have for a conference schedule.

The only people I run across who "know about" the Griz (meaning FCS is technically DI just because of other sports that aren't FB) are degenerate gamblers and a friend who grew up in Chattanooga.

Literally a couple of weeks ago, a friend who is a huge sports fan asked me if the GRIZ were going to make the NCAA tournament this year. I told them that unfortunately, I doubted. They paused for a moment and then asked how we could play in the tournament since we weren't DI.

🤦‍♂️Too common. Of course, we can always think they are uneducated and not real CFB fans, etc., but that doesn't alter the perception=reality equation.

I am in a weird situation because I live across the river from Huntington, WV, so just about everyone here knows Montana. I have asked if they have thought about going back to the FCS and almost to a person they fans say no. They'd rather get a conference championship and go to a "meaningless" bowl game. Yet, they have their 1996 National Championship stuff everywhere, but you don't see the bowl game stuff anywhere. Well, that's not true. They have a lot of the actual bowl trophies displayed at the Hall of Fame Cafe. Idk. It seems like they would have them at the University but they don't. It's like displaying all of the Griz hardware at the Press Box or the Mo Club. Seems weird to me. It is Appalachia.

When we lived in Vegas people knew about the Griz, but Vegas is also sorta Montana south. TOrrey Pines Pub is THE place to go in Vegas on Saturdays. They show all of the Griz games, and I went to a few Griz Cat game watch parties there. That place is a blast.

In Texas it's UT-Austin, TAMU, Texas Tech, SMU or Houston. My wife's little brother was a LB for North Texas but is a rabid TAMU fan, her older brother was a TE at UT-Austin, and her step-brother was an OT for Tech. She wanted to go to TAMU but ended up going to Tarleton. Needless to say I catch a lot of crap about being an FCS fan. Also, I HATE TAMU, UT, and Tech. I sort of tolerate Tarleton.

UM is good where they are. There is no need to move up. Be the Big fish in a little pond. Go after NDSU's NC record.
 
The Griz are pretty well known in the Denver area but I assume that isn’t the case elsewhere. In addition to all the alumni that moved here after college, Craig Ochs went to one high school in my hometown and BK went to the other one. UNC is a little over an hour north and Bob Stitt’s team is the closest college football team of any level to where I currently live. Between all these connections the Griz football cream is fairly well known. Some of my friends were also neighbors with Bobby Hauck in the 90s when he was coaching at Colorado.

Pretty sure he's conflating MWC with MAC. The MAC has played on Tue/Wed nights starting the 1st/2nd weekend in November for at least the last two seasons.

According to the MWC Website, The only time the MWC has played on Tue or Wed or Thursday were for bowl games or conference champ (I think) games.

Numnuts, I actually have a career. I don’t watch message boards and count hours. Clearly you do. Parents must be proud. It’s sarcasm you dolt just like 50% of comments on fan board. To be fair, in my situation I'm in SEC country and they don't talk about other P4 conferences unless its to say how they ain't shit and they never played no one. Thats all i hear.

My son runs an Old Town sports bar in Ft. Collins. He says they get great crowds for the Griz game telecasts.

Most are good enough sports fans and smart enough to know and have known. I don't recall ever having to tell a friend that Montana and FCS are D1.

Shit conference?.. Tell me what team in the MWC that plays their home games in a glorified high school "stadium" haha.. Montana has three on this year's schedule alone.. EWU, UNC, and PSU..

The grizzlies got luckily to get those teams at home otherwise there would be a whopping 3,000 "fans" at those games on the road..talk about nobody giving a crap..#BSC#

Calling bs on your sarcasm remark, its really easy to do when you got nothing else..
