Is that Bobby has NOT been hired, the timeline was NOT today, Kent Haslam is STILL interviewing candidates, and everyone's prognostications were wrong.
Sooooooo, in the spirit of "take a deep breath"...raise a glass to the coming announcement, enjoy the process, and stop eating your young!
Catsrback, I think you've always been a pretty cool dude on here, and I know you are far from Papa G. But can I ask why you care so much? And please, be honest, and don't use you're a taxpayer, or this is an FCS forum. I actually would like to hear a legit reason why a Cat fan cares THIS MUCH. No Cat-Griz smack, no nothing, just wondering. I come in peace.
Legitimate question: So, outside of the fact that we all get a heap load of fun out of our rivalry, and love the back and forth, the give and take... I think in this case there is a tremendous amount that hangs in the balance for UM.
This is a season in the history of the school that has seen some tumultuous times, some levelling off, and now a decline that is quite serious for the school in terms of enrolment. I truly believe that the athletic program is the front door of the uni for the future clients of the school. That said, it is not the house...the programs and educational piece must carry the day. However, who is the doorman, the first person that everyone sees, meets, and or gets it's first read off?
It isn't KH, or likely the new President, it often is the athletic coaches etc...! I am intrigued by the Bobby H potential hire because it harkens back to a day, yes when the team won some games ( a lot ), but at what price? It is arguable that that period laid the foundation for the season of unrest just gone through. Who knows, maybe Bobby H is exactly the person you want greeting the future at the door of the uni...particularly the athletes, but I would certainly look ALL the candidates over and decide what the total package brings to the table regarding UM and it's future.
So, there you have it. There's my true interest. BTW: I really don't hate UM...I've paid $$$$$ for my daughter to spend several years there...but I do love the rivalry. :thumb:
