What seed does a 9-2 Montana receive?

I think the winner of the brawl will get a top four seed and the other will be playing on the first weekend and the next game will be another brawl.

This.

In the latest round of bracketology, Sam Herder has the Cats winning the Brawl and entering as the #2 overall seed, possibly #1.

"Montana State jumped to my projected No. 2 seed after beating EWU. The Bobcats are hot right now. If they win out (vs. Idaho, at Montana), they are 10-1 overall and 10-0 against the FCS with three then-ranked wins (Weber, EWU, Montana) and two now-ranked wins (EWU, Montana). That’s a Top 2 seed, if not the No. 1 seed."

"If Montana beats NAU this weekend, the Griz are a lock to make the bracket at eight wins with an FBS victory (Washington). If they then beat Montana State (who is looking for a Top 2 seed) at home, a 9-2 Montana team is in the playoff seed mix."

Believe Brint sized it up about right. First of all it does depend upon what happens to the other teams. Yet based on their own records without other outside surprises:

A 9-2 Montana will earn a 5 or 6 seed.
A 9-2 MT State will still likely be seeded at the 7 or 8 seed.

If there is some real 'carnage' out there amongst the other top 10 teams... both Montana and MT State could slide up a seed or two.

Assuming both cats & Grizzlies win this weekend, then if the cats were to win in Missoula:
A 10-1 MT State will likely earn the #2 seed and deserve it.
An 8-3 Montana will have a slim chance for the #8 seed if Davis and/or others ahead of us drop a game, regardless Griz are playoff bound.

Beating the bobcats is always a fun thing. Yet earning the playoff bye week by being seeded 1-8 is even better for our guys. First things first, go get two more wins. Go Griz!

This is possible as it has happened before with a quick 'rematch' in the playoffs, but I REALLY DOUBT IT.

Even Herder's potential playoff bracket is unlikely. He has the winner of Montana & UC Davis going to Sacramento State. This results in a 'rematch' regardless of who won the 1st round game. Always possible but typically avoided. Sometimes these replay games are inevitable but that isn't the case yet. If the cats & Griz match up again I'd expect it to be no sooner than a quarter or semi finals game.

4-6
Depending on how other teams above us do in last 2 weeks.
We go 1-1 and we have to pray to be #8 seed
