Keron DeSheilds apparently was here for "team camp." I assume high school recruits don't have the funds to cross the country for a few scrimmages. Thus my assumption is that the NCAA permits schools to provide this "acclimation" opportunity for recruits. I also assume that this comes out of Tinkle's hoop club budget or from high school summer camp money.
If my assumptions are correct, does anyone know:
Is this for returning players as well as new recruits?
Does it apply to JUCO recruits also?
Do other sports (such as football or women's hoops ) have similar provisions in the NCAA rules?
Given that is is down time for college hoops, I thought it would be interesting to learn a bit more about the rules. I assume MslaCat is shaking his head that we all don't know this.
