What if we take Wyoming on Saturday? Does this change your expectations for the season? If we win big does that change anything? :?:

The Griz need to do well in conference. That really is the ultimate indicator. A win would be nice but a loss is not "season ending".

A loss to Wyoming is what I expect, and NOT because I'm down on what the Griz can be this season. I just like to be real, and Wyoming is a team picked fourth in the MWC, with what seems to be an already rejuvinated squad and what is supposed to be a mean and nasty defense. So I actually EXPECT the Griz to fall, and I don't think it will hurt the season ONE BIT...UNLESS, they fall and lose starters to injury. Then I'm probably going to hit the panic button.

I actually have the Griz 2-2 after the first four games and going 8-4 this season, but still finishing second to EWU in the Big Sky, getting a bye and another second-round home game. And I'll just say it BEFORE the 1,000 page thread about it starts in November, and 8-4 Griz team WILL be playoff bound.

An 8-4 Griz team will again not have a single quality win (assuming their losses are to Wyoming, NDSU, EWU & someone else)....that doesn't bode well. We need 9-3 or 10-2 with 1-2 quality wins.

AZ, I'm not say8ng you're one hundred percent wrong, but I've spoken to O'Day about how the playoff field is selected. It's NOTHING LIKE the BCS. By what Jim O'Day has said, an 8-4 Montana team or 8-3 in 11-game seasons will almost ALWAYS be selected, especially in the expanded field.

I think you misunderstood. I'm not suggesting an 8-4 Griz team doesn't get into the playoffs. I'm merely stating that we'd be viewed as no better than the 10-2 team from last year, that didn't have a single "quality" win.

We'd be in, almost 100% guaranteed at 8-4. I'd just like to see the team step up and win a couple of the games that are coin flips.

I agree. The NCAA loves Montana. 8-4 and Montana is most likely in, but I'm hoping for better.

What if you have a misspelling in your username and because of the first thing you post everyone notices it and you look a little silly...ahhhhh jokes welcome aboard...

History Lesson ...
Thought I'd go back and sorta review what our (we, the fans) expectations were at the start of the season ... especially after we learned how many Spring-ball (expected) starters had been taken down.

It was hard to find a completely representative thread from back then, but this comes close. All and all, our "average" expectations pretty much played out. Neither the maroon-colored glasses (10-11 wins, Big Sky champ, etc), nor the doomsayers (below 500 record, or worse) proved correct. Best part: While many thought we'd somehow win over the Cats, not many expected the beat-down that actually happened. :D
