What if cats win next week?

I fear this game will actually show how far the Cats and the Griz have to go if they want to be contenders. Neither is a quality team right now. Cats would not have made the playoffs if it were not for the expanded playoff field. No, that is not a slam against them and they had a nice win yesterday. I am merely pointing out the huge chasm between the top 8 and everyone else (maybe the top 2 and everyone else). It takes time to build a program and let's hope the Griz are on their way. Bozeman may have a problem in the near future if Choate keeps having winning seasons. The coaching carousel will rear it's head. (it might with their OC - sooner rather than later). Gregorak might get his chance at head coach eventually.

Good post. On the expanded field, it is expanded. It was done intentionally. So why not accept that it was expanded. The NCAA basketball tourney had been expanded significantly over the decades. Any time the number of slots for something is increased, more teams get selected, by definition.

I think chasm is more between NDSU, and perhaps another team or two each year, and the rest. EWU, Weber, and Davis were all better than MSU and UM this year, but I really don't think the difference was huge. They are top 8. NI is now top 16. UM beat them.

Can't imagine the Cats could beat NDSU, but perhaps they can figure out how to make it a game. I'm not holding my breath for that either.

I agree PR. My intention was not knock the expansion. I think it is good for the game and the fans. You never know - a team might peek at the right time and go on a run. I just think the cream has definitely settled at the top and I eagerly await someone consistently challenging NDSU.

Waaay more common (in my experience) to peek at the wrong time and get totally busted for it. I've gotten better over the years, but still much to learn about peek timing.

I think that’s more pathetic. You claim to have a more vested interest in the “stupidity of others” here than on the griz themselves. Not sure what your definition of “stupid” is but it seems pretty hypocritical to me.

When it comes to egriz...yes.

Yikes.

when egriz is 80%+ stupidity, I just roll with the flow.

Not really but yikes... I want to make a bunch of jokes but at this point it’s really just sad. Gl with things man. We’ve had our jabs on here but honestly just worried about you now.

I sleep just fine at night.

A cat win is a win for the Sky. Doubt if it happens, but who could be against it?

Fully agree. HIGHLY UNLIKELY but it would be nice if it did happen.

Regardless, hope our other three Big Sky teams take care of business and advance this weekend.

..its going to take a long time for Cats program to equal the Griz over the last 30 years...BUT if they
beat the Bizon they shorten it up by half...( yes we beat the Bisons in our house but not theirs thus a
greater victory ) anyway I think it be great for Montana and BSC..

Lots of surprised people if state wins! Both lines good, good running backs, all World qb. Lots of fight, hustle.

If the Cats win, someone will have to repair the hole in the space/time continuum, but here's why they won't. First, I'll say lots of kudos to the Cats and esp. to their coaching staff. I love the imaginative, multi-formation running game, and the toughness of the players. It works against most of the FCS, but not the top tier. They have achieved the maximum success they were capable of this season, in my opinion. But Cat fans are deluding themselves if they think their one-dimensional can't pass offense is going to carry them past the Bison. I suppose they think they can just keep chopping, and NDSU will wear down in the fourth quarter. If so, they haven't been paying attention. Those NDSU guys will stuff the running game from beginning to end and go work out after the game just to expend left over energy. When you are forced to try to pass, sacks and interceptions will outnumber completions. Maybe Weber could look respectable against NDSU, but not MSU, at least not yet. MSU will define down "respectable" and crow over their 6 first downs, but this one is a no brainer 48 -10 NDSU

P.S. I admit I know next to nothing about football, and if the Cats win, I'll be the first to claim the win as a fellow Montanan.
