I know this will not go well, but imo jj is not the same qb regardless of the type of offense he is running....

Been thinking he's on the same path as Denarius took last year. :| He has to find the spark.

What happened? We lost Poole and Shmaing, argubly two of the most important players on the team...our offense would be a different animal with them, period. People continually underestimate the fact that we do not have backups that can play at their level. Not this year at least. O-line is not strong enough. Sucks for something like that to unhinge the season, to an extent, but that is what has happened. Said the same thing when I found out they were both lost.

On the other hand, this season doesn't look look that strange. We generally get our butt kicked mid season and then go on a run late. Our other two losses to NDSU and Wyoming aren't a surprise. Next week will tell us alot. I'll wait until then. I also don't think firing Mick while he is potentially pulling a ridiculously good recruiting class in is wise...In the meantime, happy hunting.

while I don't disagree, I don't think JJ is the player he was. I live in Oregon and have personal ties and a lot of time watching him play. I am a HUGE fan but even when he had time he wasn't making the throws he has in the past. Or the quality of decisions he has made. He took a hard hit and his head bounced on the turf. He got up but there was a close-up of his face and he seemed to be blinking to clear out the cobwebs. The offensive scheme doesn't fit his experience and talent. The OL is still a work in progress. Either his check downs or the play calling (or both) aren't good. How can the results be expected to be anything other than what they are?

EDIT: I wanted make it clear, that this is just my opinion based on observation. Despite any connections I may have, I have no inside knowledge -- and don't want any.

It's always amazing to me how much people over value skill players and undervalue linemen. The simple fact of football is and always will be, control the line of scrimmage and you control the game. It all starts up front.

It kind of is if the offense's ineptitude causes the defense to get back on the field without much rest which wears them down in the end.

What happened you ask? We were shell shocked by a better team. A team that runs the triple option offense to perfection led by a QB constantly on the attack. Will Cal Poly beat state college? Without question.

Yep. No need to over-analyze this one. What happened was we got beat by a tougher team that executes very well; one that has been knocking at our door before. We got beat. It will happen again. Get over it. Without stopping Brown, we had little chance of winning that game - unless we could put a lot more points on the board, and that seems to be a problem. That simple. Brint pretty much nailed it in his scouting report.

Look at our starting lineup. How many Montana kids are starters for us now? Is there even ONE on offense? How many on defense, even ONE? Where are the Chase Reynolds, the Colt Andersons, the Kroy Biermans, the Marc Marianis??? The fact is, the best Montana kids are now playing for the Cats. Montana kids were ALWAYS the backbone of our great Grizzly teams. We used to make fun of the Cats because they had so many out-of-staters playing for them. Now, we have become them, and they have become us!

Perhaps you've heard of these guys? Zach Waggenman, Caleb Kidder, Derek Crittenden, Trevor Rehm, Zach Peevy, Ben Weyer, Jackson Thiebes, Ryan Burke, Bo Harris?

All (most) either starters or heavily in the rotation for their respective positions, and ALL from Montana.

Please, I am surprised that I have to point out to you that the ONLY players from your list who are difference makers are Wagennman and Crittenden. Kidder is one too, but not playing this year. The others are not even close to the caliber of Montana kids which used to start for UM. Burke might end up being one, but we'll see in due time. There are no NFL prospects in that group after Wags leaves. Once again, stop living in the past, and admit that the Cats are out-recruiting us for in-state kids.

No he didn't. He said that it was "an upset". That was no upset we witnessed yesterday. They owned us in every phase of the game.
