Feel free to add to this list, bitch session, suggestions, whatever (hell, I don't even know what to call it).
University of Montana, how about doing your best to keep your fans and media updated as to who are the candidates, and how far into the process we are? I understand and respect Kent is beyond busy with this, but would it hurt to have a designated person from the school to give public an update every few days?
All we really know from the school at this point are"
Kent wants a hire by Christmas
Preference is with an offensive minded coach.
Supposedly Stitt has not been offered the job.
I am sure I missed something here, feel free to add or correct what more we know from the school.
Pretty much everything else has been everyone guessing and trying to Pease together this puzzle of who, what, when, where, and how.
I understand that some possible candidates may still have obligations with their current jobs. However would it hurt to just say something general like, "We are waiting for the football season to be done for "x" number of candidates". For the candidates that are finished with their football seasons, "we are moving forward with so and so".
Why is this being played so damn close to the vest and tight lipped by Montana? It is frustrating and bullStitt!!!! Other schools are taking the time to at least make general comments without misleading anyone. I am tired of all the rumors. I do know if the school would do a better job at using the media for updates and information, it would help put a rest to all the crap. Not only is this frustrating for our fan base, but one would think whoever the candidates are, would be a little frustrated and upset at not knowing more.
Seriously, if you were a final 5 or 10 candidate for a job, then hear through the media "Such and such will be or is the new coach at where ever, how would you react and what would you think? I am sure a few candidates picked up a phone or sent a text to Kent or whoever else in the athletic department when the Bob Stitt story leaked by multiple sources.
Has Montana made any efforts to give local, regional, national media any information or updates? These guys have a job too, and unfortunately when the direct source is not cooperating with the media, they turn to other sources to try getting a scoop. I'd be happy to hear something like, from this point forward such and such with whatever media source will be our official media contact. Only this source will be provided official updates Montana's coaching job.
At least when the GRIZ filled the position after Hauck left, there were some periodical updates through the Missoulian. Could some of this be due to Dave Guffey's retirement taking away a key source for these kind of things? If so, how about a general statement, "We are doing our best to keep our fans, media, and public updated. Due to Dave Guffey's upcoming retirement, we have more on our plate than normal. The university appreciates your interest, patience, and understanding regarding this manner."
Why is Montana keeping so much in the dark in this hire? I hope the results of the new hire will be much better than the path to get there.
