Weyer

Ben or Will?

Will Weyer, the QB, won't be joining the football team until school starts. He is among many that didn't make the roster until then, when roster limits increase.

holy hell...reading the Twitter feeds from AJ today, our O got worked, ran over, worked and ran over once again.

From AJ Mazzolini:

Hittin’ time

The addition of full pads for the Grizzlies’ fifth practice of fall greatly benefited the defense. The D again rushed the quarterback well, giving the offensive tackles fits especially and rushing throws from the offense. The offense improved noticeably during 7-on-7 drills — not surprisingly — with the D- and O-lines off the field.

Can he play center?

From earlier reads and depth charts it doesn't look like Luke was taking any time at center before being thrown into the mix, maybe he'll catch up given a little time to work on it.

Luke was getting all the center snaps that Weyer wasn't all Spring and so far this Fall...

From the sound of it the O-Line is just not going to cut the mustard. I had high hopes for this year but it starting to sound like it may be pretty rough for several years. The Griz may struggle in all 3 of thier first games. The Defense sounds solid but without a good O-Line the offense will be in a lot of 3 and outs wearing down on the defense. Stitt's system will not work if the Offense can't move the ball. The Defense wil be on the field way too much and be wore down quickly.

I have a REALLY hard time believing that the O-line will be worse than last year. And last year's offense averaged 35 points a game. Granted, this is a much tougher schedule, but I think we'll be fine.

Hopefully it isn't season ending. Having leadership at the center position is very important, especially for this type of offense. Bad news. I'm not as worried about Luke's snaps as I am of his ability to make calls at the line. Hopefully, he can do that. The snaps will improve with practice and repetition.

That's not accurate. Sprunk has been getting a good number of center reps. Luke has been playing guard too. Jeez, what's the point of saying stuff that you apparently know nothing about? Look at earlier press reports on the two deep. Ask some of the guys who are attending some of the practices.

My bad....MOST the other snaps. My point was that billgrizfan made it sound like Luke had zero time at center, which is incorrect.....or maybe I'm wrong....huh PR....

Ditto. Not sure why a number of posters seem to ALREADY be writing off the o-line. This is largely the same unit as last year. They'll get it together; just give them some time!

Probably because they struggled against good teams last season and will have a much less mobile QB to protect this season. Even Brint, sugar-coater extraordinaire, has expressed concern about the Oline.

At this time last year I think we had Thiebes and Clark playing tackle at about 260 lbs. We once again have a big left tackle in Schmaing. We're alot bigger this year and everyone's a year older. I also think we'll be fine. Then again, I'm not one bit surprised our D line is dominating.

I don't have a hard time believing they could be worse

I don't see how Brint has been sugarcoating anything, seems to consciously balance the good with the bad on most everything. Almost to a fault imo, but I love his observations. You're starting to use Growler quotes?

Brint is one of the most positive people about Griz football, putting the glass half-full spin on most things. He has shown more concern over the Oline situation than I can remember him ever doing when relating to anything Griz football related.

Is Brint suiting up this year?
