West Florida added to the 2027 schedule

They were the 2019 Division II national champions and now play in the UAC alongside teams like Abilene Christian, Austin Peay, and Central Arkansas. 2026 will be West Florida's first season playing in the UAC, and their first playing at the FCS level.

FBSchedules is legit. They do a great job of uncovering non-conference games. West Florida will be in their first FCS season this year joining the UAC. They have a recent D2 national title within the last decade, and they're going to be building a new stadium. This is a good add. Still have one hole to fill in 2027 but Lehigh and West Florida are solid non-conference games!

The new stadium looks awesome. I really like the combo of Lehigh and west florida coming here for 2027 as well

That leaves one hole to fill on 9/11. We host Lehigh on 9/4 and we host West Florida on 9/18. One important note is that in 2027 we only have 4 home conference games. So we will have 5 road conference games as the Big Sky plans to rotate that each year. So do the Griz decide to schedule all home games for non-conference to ensure another season of 7 home games? I tend to think they will. This gives us the minimum requirement of 6 home games that the AD looks for, but after 3 consecutive seasons of at least 7 home games, I'd imagine they'd like to keep that going. So I say look for one more home game on 9/11.

We should try and get San Diego on the schedule as they only have 2 games scheduled so far (SUU and Sac State) both with TBA Dates.

I bet they already have someone lined up for the final non-conference game. Sac will probably cancel that San Diego game any way but I bet it won't be USD on our schedule.

Pay 300k to bring in a team no one cares about which if the griz make $650K after expenses or go on the road and play a FBS team that pays 650K. Makes you wonder doesn't it.
Personally I'd like us to try and play an FBS game every year for the exposure, got to see MSU play @ Utah years and years ago and it was awesome.

It is interesting that the AD needs to fill in a home game this late in the scheduling thus bring in a new D1 team because it was their only choice.
Not sure why since most teams already have a full schedule for 2027 already. It isn't as easy as you picking out your Monday overalls this morning.
