West/East Game

Pretty boring until near the end of the first half. Heard a Montana player mentioned (favorably), but did not catch the name.

Garoppolo looked really good, and finally put a TD on the board. The announcers said he was "the best quarterback out there." GO FCS!

He played the 1st quarter and got good reviews at the end of the first quarter but I don't know the announcers name. The two announcers were asked to pick their two top prospects that were basically unknown going into the game. Kistler was the first player mentioned.

I taped the game and watched most of it, fast forwarding through some when the East was on offense. Kistler appeared to play half of the game or a little more alternating with a guy whose helmet appeared to have the USC Trojan logo. There was no blitzing allowed so the offensive linemen only had to block D linemen. I specifically watched Kistler when he played when the West had the ball and he did an excellent job of both run and pass blocking - decisively outplayed the guy who subbed in for him. Frankly, I think he only missed one block on pass defense the whole time he played and he pushed his opposing D lineman around pretty well on run plays. He looked very good out there.

I thought he looked pretty good also. He also looked huge. He did get beat in pass blocking by the kid from Florida St on back to back plays tho. Overall a decent effort.

I noticed a lot of players with different school stickers on their helmets. That big fullback from LSU had a giant M on his helmet.

Pretty sure you were watching the NFLPA game rather than the East/West Shrine Game. The NFLPA game had both Coyle and MSU's Daly playing. The LSU fullback, a teammate of Daly's, was wearing one of MSU's stickers on the front of his helmet as you described. Kistler was in the East/West Shrine game.

I watched of much of it as I could before heading off to ref... I haven't seen the second half of the game yet. Danny looked every part of a fundamentally sound PRO tackle from what I saw. Despite what I would call a less-than-dominating season for him, he certainly looked like one of the better O-lineman on the field Saturday.

Yeah, you're right. Oops

Not disputing your observation is correct here Grizmayor. My question is, "why was he less than dominating this past season?" Scheme, motivation, players around him, comfort at the position, coaching? I just don't get it. He obviously had the talent to dominate.
