Were the LG there Saturday night?

I think I could figure out something more important to complain about than whether a Lady Griz player(s) showed up for a championship game they were not participating in.

I mean after ISU beat WSU on friday, they didn't exactly stick around to watch all of the Lady Griz - NAU game. They went to their hotel.

ISU left the UM-NAU semi-final game at halftime (around 8:30) to go eat their post-game dinner (takes about 90-minutes) and then to their hotel, while the coaches stayed throughout the game scouting...fully expecting to be playing Montana the next night. As it was, NAU's win forced the ISU coaches to stay up well into Saturday morning putting together a new game plan, which fortunately worked. Anyway, your argument about leaving a game early when you have to play the next night is pretty specious, especially if you have no clue what a team's schedule is when it's on the road. It's certainly a totally different thing than not showing up for a championship game in a tournament you're hosting when you have no other game to play the next day, etc.

Let me repeat, if Mandy was getting treatments for her back spasms during the title game and during the award ceremonies...that's great...super! I'm not trying to pick on Mandy. I'm not making a big deal out of that. I've said repeatedly there are certainly good reasons for not showing up...but you haven't dealt with the issue...you've just tried to divert attention elsewhere.

There are loyal fans, then there are stupid fans.

My goodness, does it somehow make ISU's win less legitimate because the Lady Griz team didn't show up en masse in uniform and sit together in a block? What business is it of anybody's (other than Mandy's family and coaches) why Mandy wasn't there to accept being named to the tournament team? If you truly think that it is the obligation of the home team to show up en masse, sit in a block though an entire game in which they have no stake, then you should petition the NCAA to make it a requirement. To my knowledge the host school performed its duties impeccably--this did not include requiring the home team to suit up, and make arrangements to meet at the school and walk in together so that "fans" would be sure they were there. I would suggest that ISU fans enjoy the championship and relax about one player from another team not being there at the end of the game. And Griz fans should take a chill pill and quit trying to dictate what our teams "should" do.

I never said anything about the LG's absence at the game lessening ISU's win...I didn't even bring the subect up. Read my first post on this thread...and then read it again. I'm not the one who raised the topic...I'm the one who suggested there's no reason to either blame OR defend the absent team unless ALL the facts are present. I have to admit, though...this is one of the things I like about egriz...what might ordinarily be an innocuous topic or thread just takes on a life of its own...should other schools be so lucky to have such rabid fans. :punch:

I think Mandy probably had all day to get her back treated so she could make it to the post-game to accept her award.
We happened to run into her late Saturday morning. She was pretty shellshocked over the loss, hadn't slept at all since losing to NAU the night before. Her family was in town for probably the last time in a long time and I'm sure they didn't want to spend the night watching the ISU/NAU game.
It might have been best if she showed up to get her trophy, but then again, a lot of Griz didn't know. There sure weren't 3,000 fans in the seats, I can tell you that.
We went for no other reason than remembering what it was like in 2002 in Bozeman at the championship game. There weren't 300 people there and we were disgusted by the MSU fans' no-show. Their men didn't show up for the post championship awards, either.
