Bison D = Smoke and Mirrors
Don't get me wrong, their D is damn good but the offenses ability to chew clock is what makes their D appear all world and keep opponents points extremely low.
The Bison offense is what's scary to me.
The reason the Bison don't look offensively outstanding like EWU is because that's the game-plan... Attempting to put up more offensive points would stop the clock more and allow other teams the TOP to hang. Pretty boring but effective if you have the line to do it. How do you game plan against that? It's simply brute force.
This is where our front seven could shine.
EWU would get rolled by this NDSU squad. The Bison would be in full control of this game with EWU's D.
In my opinion Montana has a better chance at beating NDSU than Eastern. Our front seven have a shot at slowing the bisons O line just enough to let our offense gain the TOP edge.
My biggest concern in this contest is our running game. Can't keep that clock chewing consistent NDSU offense off the field without some decent rushing.
Our ace in the hole for a playoff run: Van and possibly Counts back
With a healthy Van/Canada combo I like our chances of picking up 4-5 yards consistently.
Our D must shine and our O must win the TOP. Another must is ZERO turnovers. Basically our O is going to have to play lights out which they are capable of. Special teams will also be an important factor. Winning the field position battle will be a must and #7 better me returning every kickoff if we want a prayer...
And who knows, maybe the Bison make a few mistakes, have a couple turnovers and give us some room for error.
Anyone who thinks the Griz will be a tuneup game for the Bison are smoking some good shit.
Tic Toc, who can win the TOP, create more turnovers and win the field position?
Their win over South Dakota was impressive. Was South Dakota's tank empty after YSU and Montana or is NDSU getting better?
I'll say
Montana: 21
NDSU: 20
However you look at it the Bison have the edge (this year) but I like Montana's chances and if we win it definitely wouldn't shock me.
