By the way, bisonboy, "second to none" is a term you need to research. I know it might be hard, but try to stay with me:

Second is the place right after first. First is the best. Now, if you're "second to none," that may mean that no one is better than you in that regard, but it does not rule out the possibility of having equal(s) i.e. APP, YSU GSU. Stay with me here. I complimented your team in several ways and acknowledged their accomplishments-more than I can say for you. Then I stated that our tradition was second to none, which is true, and your MASSIVE north dakota ego could not deal with that. We can't even speak about our tradition being second to none, which it is, on our own football board, without you crying about it.

So tell me, where is the "pathetic arrogance," really?

Thanks for giving me that lesson. Looking forward to seeing you in Fargo.

Actually I would love to be there. Nothing like getting ahead of yourself, though. Both teams have some business to attend to before that becomes a reality. If it does, and I make it, beer's on me, New Guy. :thumb:

BTW, I pulled for you guys especially two years ago. Take the Packers colored glasses off and maybe you'll see the forest for the trees!

This is a damn if you do, and damn if you don't thing. If GRIZ fans are not confident and ass kiss, we get this feeling of not being as good. If we are confident, and feel we can beat NDSU we get pissing contests against another fan base.

Seriously, does any fanbase expect another fan base to just kiss their ass? Damn right fan bases of 2 great programs are going to believe the best in their own teams!!!! I expect nothing less, and am disappointed in a fan base that will not believe in their team. With that said, can we please get this back on track? The pissing contests are not needed. How about actually discussing the football. Better yet, how about each team focus on their 1st playoff game? That way, the GRIZ/Bison talk is not wasted for nothing.

Seriously, both fan bases are better than this "My Dad is better than your Dad BS!"

Hey at least we don't live in north dakota... :(

I don't live in North Dakota. Montana is a beautiful state. So is Missoula. Love visiting there.

Missoula isn't a state. A state of mind, maybe.

Good luck to the Bizon!

Can we just wait until after we each play a game to start this shit...ndsu fans have been, and always will be the most annoying fans in football. They are going to make you guys love ewu and scat fans. Let's not address them until need be...

I can see me liking them less than Cat fans, but there will never be a fan base I like less than the Cheney 17. Good point on tabling this.

Just wait, they'll be on a griz board seeking validation from griz fans about their team...just like ewu, except there is more of them.

OK agreed dude. But there is a lot of ass kissing going on. This thread is on track, and its far from a pissing contest. If that's how you see it, fine. I would think you'd recognize a rallying of the troops. This thread to me is analagous to a leaky tire. You have to patch it up and put some air back in. That's all it is, I would think mtgrizrule would recognize that... :thumb:

Well put. Not sure what or how the thread got a little off track. I see both sides. I just don't why fan bases don't better accept fans favor their own team. NDSU fans can't change the support we have for our team, and we cannot change the support they have for their team. Both programs have earned respect throughout their storied histories. :thumb:

mtgrizrule...we are in agreement!

Just feel that Griz fans need to step it up. After all, we're NOT the New Guy!

Not proclaiming an NC, but hey, act like you've been there if you have been there.

All I have to say is who ended the App State dynasty giving Armanti Edwards his last loss of his last FCS game when most everyone expected the Griz to fold and that there was no chance for a win against the App State Dynasty?

DII Championships don't count at the DI level...

Well, if you want to get technical. NDSU has 3 College Division championships(one of them when they pounded Montana in 1969 by a score of 30-3). 5 Division II championships and 2 FCS championships.

I feel like a lot of you guys need to get your sh!t together.

NDSU has done some great things in the short time they've been in this subdivision. As a proud Griz fan though, I'm getting really tired of all you guys licking their balls and acting like you've never been there before.

Great programs do not cowtow to other programs, even when they are worthy of that- especially when the other program is pretty much The New Guy. Great programs (much like great businesses and individuals, etc) acknowledge the accomplishments of others, and maybe emulate some characteristics, but they don't kiss ass and acquiesce world dominance at the drop of a hat like some of you seem so eager to do. Even if they're better right now. Even when it would appear that they have the edge in leadership, talent or experience. If you're going to write off an organization with a tradition that to this day is second to none (I said tradition, not CURRENT football team); a program that has overcome huge obstacles in a short time, that rose up faster than any before it and SUSTAINED that status for over 20 years despite being decimated by administrators and other suits- well then, please turn in your Griz gear at the home playoff game on the 7th. I'm tired of reading that tripe on here. NDSU will obviously be favored should things shake out that way, but for God's sake, stop pandering to the New Guy and show a little goddamn intestinal fortitude.

You guys that are doing all of the butt-kissing should go register on their board, and help conflate the collective bison ego. Hopefully, with your help, they'll be so full of themselves that they'll be in shock when our Dline doesn't lay down on the first snap and shit themselves with fear.

God I hope the UM players are pissed! They should be!

Oh, and hey New Guy- that's GRIZ. One Z. Get it right.

Thank You

Im living in ND and have watched all the Bison games this year. I can absolutely say that I'm not as afraid of them now as I was at the beginning of the year...they are very good..but very beatable.
I have yet to see a team put a full game together against the Bison..SDSU was close but than blew it with about 8 min left in the 4th. Also NDSU has yet to play a team with as big and dominant O-line and D-line that the GRiz have....if our O-line shows up against the Bison..the Griz can absolutely win. Also..I don't think NDSU has played a team beside K-State that has the weapons the griz do.

Bisson, your 8 National Championships in Small College/DII are impressive. In the two Camellia Bowls we played you, we were not allowed to use our JC transfers. That rule eventually changed, but we were without many of our stars. You won. Recognized.

I like the current standings: Griz 3 wins, Bisson 3 wins

Stats correction: not 113 more wins; only 88. Unlike the bisson (Fr), I don't think we ever played in Division II, which officially began in 1973. In 1948, our administration de-emphasized football and we became recognized as a small college in the "College Division" (officially in 1968). DII was formed from the College Division.

Why do we not have more wins?

From 1902-1949, we played in the Northwest Intercollegiate Athletic Assoc. and Pacific Coast Conference with California, Idaho, Oregon, Oregon State, Stanford, Washington, Washington State, and Whitman College, although we didn't play everyone. All are now Division I FBS teams except Whitman.

From 1951-1963, we played in the Mountain States Conference (Skyline) with BYU, Colorado, Colorado State, Denver, New Mexico, Utah, Utah State, and Wyoming. All are now Division I FBS teams (except Denver dropped football in 1961).

Let's see from 2000 - 2003 we were DII and the next 4 years we were transitional. We hope to build a winning tradition like the griz have in DI.

One has to give respect to the Bison for what they have done. But respect can also be a two way street. As a Griz fan, I would really hope that they buy into the meme of the Griz being overrated. Just like JMU did when they were ranked #1 and we played at their house.
That being said, I am looking forward to December 7th to see who we get to play. Although, the Bison should know that Coastal Carolina is hoping that they beat us, and one of their local teams beat the Bison so that the semis will be in South Carolina.

Don't really think that is going to happen, but I have seen stranger things.
