Well??

My only concerns were special teams play and dropped passes. I was really concerned that we couldn't get down field and cover on the punt return for a touchdown--that kick had some serious hang time. And, if the ball hits you in the hands, you have to catch it.

Hey, "fan"zoo...do you know what year Peterson "turned it around"? Because he went 15-12 his first two years at UW. And they (like the Griz) weren't HORRIBLE, going 35-29 in the 5 years under Sarkasian. So yeah. And then there's us.

I'm the one that said turned it around quickly, which meant taking Washington back into National prominence in his 3rd year.

I know. But fanzoo then said, "and then there's us", like we're somehow behind schedule, when in reality it wasn't until Petersen's third year that shit started improving.
So you really think things are improving that much to get us back? in this 3rd year.
No this is us.

I like to hope too but then this reality thing kicks in.

Oh yeah, Savannah St., loser 54-7 last week to Appy St., makes it "for real."

If the savannah st game is not well in hand by halftime I think we'll know something about this team........that they're not very good.

Tell us what our schedule is. We have won two of our last seven games and those wins were against ISU and Valparaiso, and we yielded 67 points in doing that. There is no evidence we are improving. We were a playoff team the year before Stitt took over.

I'm sorry about this post guys, it was meant to be sarcastic. I was referring to someone posting about running a vanilla defense against the Huskies so that our conference foes don't know what to expect. Along with the money and body bag game folks. I should have used a sarcasm emoji. There is not one ounce of belief in me the the Griz did not come to compete. I am a loud proud and sometimes emotional long time Griz football fan of 30 + years. So please forgive me. I am hopeful that we will compete VERY well in our own conference. GO GRIZ.

Get back to me after EWU. We will have learned nothing about how far along our schedule we are in the first three games.

EWU 23; opponents 96, so far. No Baldwin, no Kupp. We have a chance.

Stitt's offensive scheme is too predictable, Semore's defensive personnel lack proper coaching in technique, positioning, and reading offensive sets, and whoever coaches special teams' coverage needs serious help.

Our offensive set is one dimensional and easy to dissect. Valparaiso gave Semore's defense multiple looks while the Griz formation was mainly the same -- QB in shotgun with one back off either side of him. Even the WSU Cougars will run a two-back set with an H-back look at times.

NDSU poses multiple offensive sets, and defensively the Bison are very disciplined, strategically positioned, and well versed in tackling and coverage technique.

By the way, LSU only beat Chattanooga by 29 points, Cal by 13 over Weber, WSU Cougars by 31 over the Cats, OSU by 3 over PSU, BYU over PSU by 13, and the Griz? No offensive points, embarrassed in all three phases of the game, and lose by 56.

Previously better coached Griz teams competed much better against Oregon, Iowa, WSU, and Tennessee and were not embarrassed like the Griz were in Seattle yesterday.

What do you want? Who is it that you want to coach the Grizzlies. Sounds like you want to to start all over again. I've been told by people in my profession that it takes 7 years to become proficient. How long does it take in your profession?

62-7
59-10
56-3
52-0
57-6

Those are all week 1 scores between TWO FBS teams.

How is he cherry-picking when 4 out of 5 examples are from our conference, and include lil bro? Not agreeing or otherwise with anything else, that just doesn't seem like cherry-picking to me.

And none of those FBS teams are in the same stratosphere as UW right now.

2016 - UW over Oregon 70-21. UW had 30 first downs and 682 yards.

http://www.goducks.com/boxscore.aspx?id=5599&path=football

59-14 over Idaho. 41-3 over Portland St. 44-6 over Stanford. 66-27 over Cal.

As I see it Griz will beat Sav. St but not by nearly enough for the "realists" on this board.
They will beat EWU and the "Realists" will say EWU is down and "have a new coach", which is an excuse if Montana beats a team however all our new coaches are expected to go undefeated year one.
Montana will pull off a close win against PSU ,again we will be told Barney Ball is a joke and that Montana has still not beat anyone. Hell Montana could win nine games this year and go to Semi finals and the Stitt haters will still complain.

If Montana does not get to 8 wins and Stitt is let go, I see another 3-4 yr cycle of being average and continued Bitching by Griz fans with unrealistic expectations.
I'm tired of hearing Griz fans talk about how they EXPECT to be the top team in the Big Sky.
It is not your birthright nor does it reflect badly on you if the griz do not make the playoffs every year.
The run of success Montana had, has created many entitled fans that make reading e-griz embarrassing.

The O-line has improved
The secondary was much better in game two compared to game one.
Phillips is a major upgrade at QB
Special teams kicking improved
So please stop saying nothing has improved!

Are there issues hell yeah! Has the d-line been up to par? can run blocking be better? too many dropped passes? Kick/punt coverage needs improved??? yes yes yes and yes
This season is young and many posters are acting like Montana is out of playoff contention already.
relax enjoy the games root for the team and appreciate the young 18-22 year old men busting their ass for your entertainment.

There is no reason why Montana cant win the Big Sky every year. We have the best facilities in our conference. We should be able to recruit the best kids to play ball here. This is not rocket science! Obviously you guys are getting use to mediocrity.

I second that. Consistently winning or at least finishing in Top of the Big Sky is not an "unrealistic expectation". It only has become that in recent years. The Griz had a reputation for always being very tough and the team to beat every year. A lot of people miss that. And while we will ALWAYS root for and appreciate those boys busting their ass on the field, there's nothing wrong with expecting a top-notch football team here in Missoula. Coaches should know that coming in here. (if they have any clue how serious this community takes our football team) If they aren't producing results they will be heavily criticized, and rightfully so. The Griz are a big part of what makes Missoula such an amazing place to live. Alot of people in this town hold the Griz very close to their heart and just want to see them succeed. I'm not saying he still can't turn it around, I have faith. I'm not calling for his head or for him to be fired, but some of his criticism is definitely warranted. Go Griz!
