Well that wasn't fun

Expected to lose, but a couple of things bugging me just a bit:
1) Curran had a couple of drops, although once the pass was low. The other though looked like a catchable ball, even if it was contested a bit, and it was for an important 3rd down conversion.
2) Was it just me, or were there a couple of plays where Phillips pulled the ball from Calhoun even though it looked like there were good lanes up the middle? Is this a determination that Phillips make in that split second? I know it looks different when you're down on the field...

I was hoping he had improved upon that from last season, he just drops so many important balls.

There was a game or two last year where Curran didn't play much, and Stitt's tactful answer was they were rotating receivers through like always. I've been about as big a supporter of Stitt as anyone, but if we miss the playoffs and there are a lot of dropped balls by Curran, then come what may regarding the contract extension...I like loyalty, but you do have to be fair to the rest of the team.

Also, as someone else noted in the thread on playing true freshmen, it's standard practice to play true freshmen in the FBS, and I saw at least a couple playing for the Huskies last night. There is a win now mentality, which I think feeds into more recruiting success, so you come out ahead anyway. Heck, I believe PSU's starting quarterback is a true freshman. So I can't say for sure that players like Moses and Banks would help us win this year, but if they could, and I were Stitt, and my contact was on the line...

Saying Washington could have scored 83 is being conservative.
Even when they were trying to run out the clock with 3rd stringers they were scoring with ease.
Their 3rd string fresman running back had full ride offers to USC and Notre Dame and was running behind the second string o-line that still averages over 300#. If they couldn't score against our worn out ones and two's they better consider giving up the extra 20 scholarships and dropping down to FCS.

You must have forgotten about the 2005 ass kicking we received at Oregon. A game in which the opening g kickoff was returned for a TD by Freshman Jonathan Stewart against a special teams unit coached by your hero Bobby. That Duck team wasn't as good as the UW team the Griz played yesterday.
Yes, much the same except even with a dud starting QB of Jason Washington, we had two offensive TDs. And the defense was not the embarrassment last night's was.

Explain to me how they were going to get three more possessions.

Go ahead, I'll wait.

Uhhh, they play their starters the second half? Or if they didn't try and run out the clock for most of the second half with their 2s and 3s?

Not hard to imagine.

Hold onto that positive thought. Unlike others, it's real.

Right. They weren't going to get to 83. No matter how many times 5700 posts it. Grizfanitis hyperbole.

I'm just saying they could have easily beat us by more.

No I was there. Sat in the student section. Remember that run clearly.

How? They only had 3 possessions that didn't result in points. They didn't have MORE possessions because our offense held the ball long enough to prevent it. HOW, exactly, could they have scored more points? Specifically, 20 more points...
