"We'll always have a good football team and we'll always win,"

I've been through Alzada a few times and I know there are signs for Ekalaka along 212. I had to look up where Westby is to be honest, but I have a couple more nominees for remotes.
Cooke City and Yaak. Both, I believe are still only accessible by snowmobile in the winter.
You can drive to Cooke City all winter, but that is th end of the road until summer.

If you're with me, we can get good steaks at my Dartmouth buddy's ranch at Roscoe. "Switchback Ranch is one of the larger cattle ranching operations in the Northern Rockies, running 2,000 animal units over approximately 160,000 acres of deeded and leased ranch land in Wyoming and Montana." He's got a ranch in the Crazies too, and owns some of the tallest peaks. "The "Lazy K Bar Ranch" is a historic dude ranch located near Big Timber, Montana, in the Crazy Mountains. It is known for being the oldest continuously operated family-owned dude ranch in Montana, established in 1922. The ranch offers a variety of activities, including horseback riding, fishing, and hiking, with a focus on providing a serene and relaxing experience in a natural setting. The Lazy K.Bar Ranch also has a connection to a recently released bourbon whiskey, Lazy K Bar Bourbon, which aims to capture the spirit of the Wild West."
Lazy K Bar ranch is no longer owned by the founding family. And, the bourbon is pretty good, if you don’t mind paying $100+ per bottle.

Yes, my friend re-named the Lazy K Bar the same name as his Roscoe ranch after he bought it, Switchback. Dave Leuschen grew up in Billings. We were at Dartmouth at the same time and hung out alot in my NYC days. I hope to see him at my daughter's upcoming wedding.

Ever hear the Hank jr song he wrote in the Twodot bar? The story from the owner is hilarious. Like the town, the song is hard to find (not on Spotify).

Thank you! Never heard of this. I have very deep connections to Two Dot from long ago. Like I said before, I have credentials.

Hank Williams Jr, one of the outlaw country singers. I had a professor at school who claimed he went drinking with Jr.. I always thought that was far-fetched but after listening to the song, I can believe it now. BTW, IMO, the lyrics are hilarious but the melody is god-awful.

Jr. included "The Montana Song" and "Cut Bank, Montana" among his extensive body of work. Of course he almost lost his life from a serious head injury from a mountain trail fall here.

Of course, "It was colder than a well diggers ankle in Cut Bank, Montana," is not the way all of us say it. But his is a better lyrical fit and so we will have to grant him poetic license. We meant what ya knew Boscephus (hiccup)!

I think your buddy was in the news last night. Seems he's getting sued, by a shitload of local ranchers in the Crazies, for stealing water, which he has no right to, from the local river to water his goddamned golf course. Real prince of a guy, your buddy.
I have no first hand knowledge, but is this the same Lazy K Bar Ranch that seems to be ruffling lots of feathers here in Montana, in more ways than one.
Hells Bells, I've known plenty of assholes in my time, none of them rich, entitled, arrogant egomaniacal assholes though. Just your common asshole. You can't deny knowing him, I copied your post. Its chiseled in stone, now. Its no refection on you, hoops. People can change in 50 years, right?
You can always use the Crazy Cora statement, from 'Quigley Down Under,'
"Crazy Cora: I don't know him. I never saw him before."

You have the wrong ranch. You are an idiot. Yes, I know dave Leuschen fairly well and have for over 55 years. .

Ya mean there is another Lazy K Bar Ranch, AKA Switchback Ranch, in the Crazy Mountains, with about 8,500 acres, and getting sued by about 20 parties, including the State of Montana, for stealing river water to irrigate their 18 hole golf course? What are the odds?
YOU brought the subject up, hoops, I'm merely noting the relationship between your post and the news article on KRTV. Lots of Lazy K Bar Ranches in the news lately. Probably just a coincidence, right? Perhaps you could help me, hoops, what is the other Lazy K Bar Ranch, or other ranch by some other name to which you refer, as I really do not know. You have ranching connections, and are a Business Attorney(and ranches, Dude Ranches, and Golf Courses are businesses), so maybe you could show me where I'm wrong. Enlighten me, but keep it simple, as you believe I'm an idiot. Teach to your audience.

"The construction appears to be on private land deeded to the Switchback Ranch LLC, a company that in 2012 purchased the historic Lazy K Bar dude ranch from the Van Cleve family, which had operated it since 1922. The website of the high-end ranch realty company Hall and Hall values the 8,500-acre Lazy K Bar at $9 million."

Maybe this is part of the obfuscation:
News articles and posts seem to disappear like farts in a windstorm.

Again, you have the wrong ranch. Look atthe first article you provided, which is about the water lawsuit. Look at the name. See below quite. Crazy Mountain Ranch, not Lazy K or Switchback Ranch. Your 2d article is old and doesn’t involve the golf course. The Crow press release mentioned in that article is 2019. It’s 2025 now, in case you don’t know. As I said, you are an idiot. Can’t read. Do you know that the University of Montana is not the same as Montana State University? Two different universities.

“Crazy Mountain Ranch and Montana’s water-right regulator have entered into an agreement that tentatively closes the books on a short-lived lawsuit regarding a golf course under construction in the Shields Valley.

Late last week, Crazy Mountain Ranch announced that it reached an agreement with the Department of Natural Resources and Conservation to resolve a legal dispute about the luxury resort’s water use to keep its 18-hole golf course alive.”

Again, Crazy Mountain is not Lazy K. Two different owners. I will await your apology. Or, keep digging your hole.

That's all I wanted. An explanation. You provided that. You could have provided that in yesterdays posts, but didn't. Evidently, I was wrong, and apologize for my wrong interpretation of the news stories. When wrong, I admit it.

Time to take a break.

Mick, okay I will give you more advice, since you asked. Consider thinking and researching before you post. Don't make a mistake if you are calling someone out. Those are good basic rules to follow.

When someone says: "You have the wrong ranch." Take that to heart, and double-check you facts/post. Don't follow up your dumb/incorrect post by posting 2 articles, the first of which completely showed you had the wrong ranch. Read the articles that you quote and link. How hard is that?

And look at the dates of articles you use, and don't post and cite a 6 year old article as being current. "Development" happens all over and everyday. Every development is not a new golf course. And don't say that a recent lawsuit names a ranch or party that it doesn't name. You said that twice.

And normally, I wouldn't bother to explain more to low level/idiot poster, but you called me out again, so I explained it to you. Thanks for the apology.

I suppose everyone doesn't like Dave Leuschen, but I know him fairly well, have known him for 56 years, and used to hang out with him in the old days in NYC. We still email. He's been a very generous guy over the years, including in and around MT. He made a pile of money too, and is still making it.

Hey, not exactly on topic here, but I just wanted to add this in with a sort of appropriate moment. I don't think its different for any of us on here that we're sitting in one of these Montana joints drinking a beer and having a good conversation about Montana football. I think all three of us bumped heads a little bit here on different topics.
Look, we're all Montana here.
No hard feelings to anyone here to you or anyone on (well...), we're just sharing our feelings for the game and the team we love. I wish I was at the position where if any of you rolled into Missoula for a game, we could meet up somewhere along Front, Ryman and Main, on down Higgins to the Ox and Iron Horse even, I look forward to running into Montana folk again and having an adult beverage. Conversation is a lot clearer, it's hard to get full meaning all the time from the written word.
We're all Montana, if you went to school there or not, we share that commonality, the people that are on here that feel what I'm say all know what it was to grow up Montana. I didn't say in Montana, I said what I mean there.
I hope that helps all three of us clear up the slight differences of opinion, and finally, in 26 years of being married, its similar. We don't agree all the time, but we want the same stuff.

GO GRIZ!
