Weekly Position Discussion: Week 6, Linebackers

Also 2506, for a cat fan who claims to be in the know and thinks they are always correct, you might want to do some research before you talk about how good Na'a will be next season. I have a feeling he won't even be in the running since he won't be playing this coming season.

Thurman, can you elaborate on Na'a, I hadn't heard anything? Thanks

The last thing any of the Griz LB's should think about is their draftiness. The only thing they should worry about is what they are going to do today to be a better player. App State is what, 54 days away?

Griz fan, elaborate? Lol.

We're actually doing a 7-4 scheme this year. No LB at all.

I must be in the minority on Tripp. He's a great FCS LB for sure, one of our best ever. But i would be shocked if he makes the NFL as a LB'er (with significant PT). He probably has the speed and athleticism but he doesn't seem to have the stregnth and hard-hitting mentality. Maybe if he gets drafted and adds about 25#s; but i still see him as an NFL special teamer (and maybe a backup LBer?) because you can't "develop" into a hard hitter. However, if you could somehow put Brock's brain in Tripp's body.........

Seems like most stud FCS LBs get lost in the league, and when one does get significant PT, he typically played DE in FCS (i.e., bigger, stronger than the typical FCS LB). Super athletic OLBs are a dime a dozen. The ones that rise to the top (and get significant PT) usually are killers (or have a specific, limited role, e.g., as a pass rusher). I guess i would not be as shocked if Tripp filled one of these "roles" (kinda like Fletcher) but i would be shocked if he gets significat PT at LB in the NFL.

Tripp is one of the faster players on the team. He has NFL size. He is strong. He works and lifts very hard. Where are you getting your "information"?

Jordon has a work ethic that is unreal, and you naysayers are in for a pleasant surprise come football season. IMO he will stand out more as he looks to be 100% healthy. This along with helping all of our future little griz, he has full days. Feel sorry for QB's and RB's they are in for a crunch.

That's too bad. Never like to see a player lose an entire season. I had heard rumors of an injury but didn't know it was that severe

I think Havre said it best "Tripp is the best BSC LB on paper and he needs to go out and prove it 2013". My comments about Tripp's 2014 draft status are pure conjecture on my part. I think he will get drafted. As for what kind of NFL player he'll be, I have no clue.

Yikes! that'll put a dent in their defense, especially with Grosalak not being his ol' self. No doubt about our lb's being best in conf.

From what? It's July. You'd think (depending on when the injury happened) he'd have the surgery sooner. What's your source?

I laugh at us arguing who is the best of our Linebackers, when any coach in the BSC would gladly take our 3rd best LB and would instantly start over any of his LB's. It's a good problem to have. Life is good and the Griz will have an amazing year in 2013.
You obviously don't know much about some of the other LB's out there in the BSC, IMO Coyle is the only one that would have a shot at starting for the Cats and even then I would take Na'a over him anyway.
UNC is pretty stacked at LB this year, not sure any of your guys would make starters there, EWU and SAC both have solid groups that your guys may not make the cut either.

So says the pathetic cat fan who only has 1 player in the NFL over the past 6 years. The Griz have 7 on active roster from last year alone and it would have been 8 but Shann got hurt early. Out of those players most are Montana boys! The whole time you moron cat fans tried to argue that you were winning the Montana recruiting and years later we proved we were winning it by putting our players in the NFL and 3 of them even played in the Pro Bowl. Idiots!!!!

Damn 8 in the NFL eh? Where are those NCAA championship rings? Griz ==> Buffalo Bills of the NFL.

Not sure what from. I would assume something football related. As for my source, that is for me and them to know and nobody else. Let me see if I can find out if/when he had surgery or if it is only planned at this point.
