Weekend in Missoula

I just got back from Missoula and aside from the bobcats losing, it was a pretty good weekend.

The Adams center is a GREAT arena for a college bball game (I haven't been since the remodel). It's definitely not as multi-functional as the MSU fieldhouse, but it's a MUCH better bball venue.

Your fans rocked. It was pretty loud in there, and the towels were a nice touch.

Good luck on the rest of the season, and I really hope you guys take care of business and end up hosting, as I don't think that I'd be able to make it down to Flagstaff.

P.S. Does Missoula have any GOOD bars that are smoke free? (is the iron horse smoke free...any others?)

Glad you enjoyed your trip,

Actually most bars in town are now smoke free, basically if they serve food (correct me if I'm wrong here) or people under 18 are allowed in there the bar must be smoke free. Iron Horse, Sean Kelly's, the Mo Club, Jakers has a good bar (and good food), & the Press Box to name a few

Didn't like Hammer Jacks? Kind of a kid hang-out, but the smoke free is nice.

Hammer Jacks was by far my least favorite place.

I've been in there before during the day to watch games, and thought it was pretty cool, but the atmosphere at night is a lot different. It seems like a wannabe dance club with a lot of wannabe playas. The wretched smell of insecurity and testosterone was far worse than any amount of cigarette smoke.

LMAO, I figured I knew what place you were talking about when you said "GOOD".

FWIW, Press Box is not smoke free. Went there to watch the game Saturday night, and due to cigarette smoke, left and went to Hammerjacks to watch the game.

Anyways now that a lot of bar/restaurants are smoke free there are many more alternatives than just the few that used to be smoke free.

Stockmans is smoke free Unless your a guy named Shifty or the owners brother. You can still smoke in the casino.

I like that bar, the owners son is a good kid

While Boomers may not be smoke-free, it is becoming one of my favorite spots. I was there for the Super Bowl, and they had tons of prizes and give aways, and plenty of screens. Nice women in there too.

Yes I have heard he is a pretty good athlete. Wonder if he is going to play for the griz someday.

Missoula/Montana needs to do what Washington recently did and make ALL inside locations smoke-free. It is SOOOO nice to go out to a bar and not come home with a nagging cough, and the urgent need to burn your clothes and immediately jump in the shower. Everyone argues that it will be bad for the bars, but from what I've seen it's been a boon. People like me that would normally stay home are now venturing out to bars we wouldn't dream of going to, and the smokers still go and smoke outside.

Good call Everett Griz -- except the smoking ban doesn't apply to Native American casinos, which in the long run is a good thing for me; the smoke film drives me out before I lose all my money.

Montana has a new law that went into effect last fall that bans smoking in all indoor places used by the public. Bars and casinos can apply for an exemption to the law, but they still have to come into compliance by 2009. If they get an exemption, they can't let in minors.
