Week #1 FCS Playoff Game Thread

Meanwhile, UNI is totally kicking butt against SFA, 37-7 (and it's not that close). Long since quit watching that.

No ... SFA was at-large. As I recall, SHSU got the auto-bid from the Southland over SELA. (And then nailed it down with the head-to-head opening playoff game.)

If they were an at-large, why does the committee even bother? They get killed every year.
 
Not a bad first round. Three of the 8 matchups were "upsets" -- but none of those were huge shockers.

Indiana State (7-5 regular season) proved they deserved a bid despite their five losses and the way they tailed off at the end of the season. Their win against East. Kentucky was pretty convincing.

But Sam Houston basically won on home-field advantage (4 points), and part of that was, IMO, their playoff experience.

Liberty's win at JMU was a bit of a surprise, but they have played good teams tough all through the year. I'd worry some about the Flames as a sleeper.
