Weber vs Griz game thread

Yeah its on BigSky tv. VOD replay. The local camera crew tried their best to catch fight as well. After the hand shake stay with video through commercial break and you can watch the scuffle.

i do love the griz said:
Well that particular fan unfortunately was doing nothing but damage. And also unfortunately the game had only just ended. He was headed right into the heat of the action to cause more problems. Fortunately Tinkle did head him off. There's just no place for that.

Again, not defending this fan, but you are incorrect on the timing. The game had ended multiple minutes earlier. When Tinkle came back towards the fan, Tinkle was leaving the court for the second time. The fan must have been yelling something, but the fan was not particularly close to the Weber players. As for timing, the game ended, UM celebrated, the UM coaches left the court and headed up the tunnel, the players lined up to shake ends, the incident started after the players had been shaking hands, the players from both teams were separated, the talking was still going on as they were separated, Tinkle and the other coaches came back onto the court to where the players were, Weber players and coaches were leaving and were in front of their bench, UM players and coaches were almost off the court in the northeast corner toward the tunnel, and Tinkle rushed back onto the court to deal with the fan (who was not too many steps on the court at that time). The fan may have been more on the court earlier, but not when Tinkle came back to deal with him. Or, are we talking a different fan?

Did you look at the video? Were you at the game at the time?

Yes, I did watch the video, and I was there...for that matter when watching the video I could see myself the whole time. The reality is that the whole situation didn't last very long. It wasn't like it was super long afterwards. It was while the teams were getting off the court. This fan was headed in towards them and just pushing the situation on and Tinkle interfered.

We may be talkin about someone else, but this guy was over headed to the basket when it happened. Either way, it was out of line to go out there as a spectator.

Whatever started the post-game scuffle, it ended pretty quickly. The entire Griz team dispersed and headed for the locker room. Otis and Berry and one other Wildcat in his warmup had to be restrained from continuining the fight. They were still barking and trying to get into something and not wanting to leave the court as the Griz bee-lined it to the locker. Then the vulgar hand gesture and "cracker" comment can NOT go unpunished. That could have gotten real ugly, real quick if the fans (besides Weezy) got involved. They wouldn't have gotten out of there unscathed in the old days with those actions. We'll see if Rahe is serious with his comments or all-talk.

BTW,DeShields came to Missoula from Vermont, not Baltimore (or DC). I don't know how many years he was at his exclusive prep school, but his transition to MT was not as drastic as others have made it sound in this thread.

It is too bad that after such a great game the ending was like this. It detracts from the performance of both teams. If either of these coaches had felt something was brewing they would not have left the floor before the teams were headed for the lockers. Something had to be said and it takes two to tangle.

One thing I can guarantee you is that whoever was involved from either side will be getting one of life's hard lessons from Coach Tinkle and Coach Rahe about controlling their emotions. Both of these coaches have great character and are stand-up guys and although competitive they do the right thing and their programs do the right thing.

I can pretty much assure you that the game in Weber will be hotly contested and highly competitive. I don't believe for a moment you will see any cheap shots from either team regardless of who wins. There will be hard fouls and some feisty moments but in the end class of the coaches and the control they have over their players will be evident.
