Weber to get rolled by

The bar was set last year by our Griz: 47 points. The Big Sky Conference has been shown the door with a 16 seed. Automatic Qualifier only. I would think the NCAA might reconsider the AQ after an evaluation of Big Sky performance. Look at the teams that didn't get in and then compare them to Weber. The Big Sky is the Rodney Dangerfield of NCAA basketball.

Not Rodney Dangerfield. Unfortunately the Big Sky has earned their place at the bottom with their performances.

Arizona's defense is stifling...among the best, if not the best, in the country. They lock down everything in the half court. It will be a moral victory if Weber breaks 50 points...

Arizona is good on defense but they are not Virginia

Still bummed we got a 16. Thought we should have gotten Wofford's 15. I'd be content if we lose by less than 20 and would consider it a win if we lose by less than 10. Vegas opened at -14.5, quickly moved to -19.5.

I like your guard play as I think they will handle Arizona's pressure than Montana's guards handled Syracuse's zone last year. Weber just has to be aggressive and things can happen

Could be worse. I'd rather have Arizona than 8-9 other teams I can think of off the top of my head, including Syracuse.

You mean instead of losing by 30 they might only lose by 25?

The best reason to "Move up", is to get the hell out of this BBall league...

:thumb:  Too bad the basketball program cannot move by itself. I'd love to see the GRIZ in a better basketball conference.

Why can't we? We now let in football only teams? Why don't we ditch the BSC in everything but football? Sure, we would have to be invited, but Maybe they need to explore that.

Playing in a better conference is the only way the basketball team can get better. Case in point, the Big Sky is bringing Idaho back for basketball and allowing their football team to remain in the FBS. I don't see why we couldn't do the same for our basketball program.

I feel Weber has the tools to make this a pretty competitive game. If they don't play scared they will be all right and wont be embarrassed.

If they play like they did in their last game, the conference tournament championship, they will absolutely be competitive. Probably their best played game of the season. If they play like they did for much of the season they won't be competitive. Can't wait to see which team shows up. One thing for sure is that as a 16 seed there isn't much pressure on them at all.

Perhaps Engstrom will realize his covert goal of de-emphasizing or eliminating football to concentrate on basketball. With the help of the clueless Regents perhaps they could handoff
UM to the Jesuits (Gonzaga et al) or the Mormons (BYU) and eventually make the Griz a competitive member of the West Coast Conference.

Almost anything would be an improvement...

It's not just the RPI of the conference, it's also Weber. Weber is 19-11, and 14-6 in the conference. The Big Sky didn't have any dominant teams this year.

How many teams without 20 wins are in the tourney?

I don't know, but a team with 19 LOSSES won a game last night in the tourney.
