Weber State

Praise be to the Purple Palace. Together with Wash Griz for football, the only two big-league facilities for sports in the Big Sky Conference after all the high school-caliber venues elsewhere. I am anxious to see the new Portland State arena, which I will when the Griz men visit in late January.

I saw the Lady Griz play at the Purple Palace. The entire Weber football team sat just above the visitor entrance to the court and hurled epithets and "homey colloquialisms" at the Ladies that well expanded my vocabulary of dirty words. I hadn't heard such verbal trash since I went to a game at the USF gym and heard the God-fearing priests going after the refs. As they say, Sport doesn't build character, it just reveals it.

Great thread! Great to once-again see WSU and the Griz picked at the top. The Standard Net preview used outdated Kenpom rankings though; today's Big Sky ranking has WSU at 114, Montana at 131 and PSU at 150. That's OK by me, since I expected the Dillon Jones-led Wildcats to be a top-100 team, though they're not far back. Jones... impressively, is ranked either first or second in scoring, rebounding, assists and steals and the Wildcats are by far the best defensive team in the Big Sky so far. But -- as so many times in seasons past -- any of four or five teams (add 171 ranked EWU to the 3 mentioned) is capable of winning it all, in my opinion. EWU and PSU are both versatile and dangerous. The Wildcats will ride NBA prospect Jones. The Griz still look like they're trying to fit all their pieces together (especially Te'Jon and Giordan), but have a high ceiling if Money stays healthy. I honestly think winning league play is immaterial; whichever team is hot in late February could be any of the top four mentioned in today's Kenpom rating and advance.

Poor Moody is just stuck in the worst shooting slump of his life. He’s been stuck in it for several weeks now, but this is the team we are without Money. He’s without question our best player and we’d be in this game right now if he were out there. Why does it seem like all of our injuries come in some of our biggest games of the year?

Griz are snake bit tonight. Weber is damn good, seem to be a step faster. Moody is throwing up bricks and with Money out we have no offense. Down 20. Refs are typical BS .

Griz are lucky that Jones had a poor shooting half.

Montana is not showing much in this game, really bad basketball. i hope they can improve but doubtful, they are what they are, i-15 for 3pt shots.

Thought Sawyer and Thomas were the only ones with halfway decent games tonight, but most everyone put in a lackluster effort.

Disappointing to see a bad performance in the first conference game, after a string of good games on the road. Hope Travis can right the ship...

That's an ass-kicking. Kudos to Weber. Didn't even need Dillon to have a great game. So much for being a tough, defensive team. I look forward to their improvement throughout the season.

It's comical how bad this team is at shooting. Missing from the paint and outwards at all levels, incredible. They can turn it around, but until shooting improves and is consistent the Griz are the same as the last 5 years.

I seem to remember the first conference football game wasn't good too.
